I’d like to be first to put a fish with teeth in the boat but I’ll take page 1083 . . .I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

08/28/2019 at 7:22 pm #2064017Hi, remember me? I think I’ll start all my posts like that from now on, as much as I have had time to post here.
Tying up loose ends from last post:
We, as of yesterday, have a furnace! Still no oven. Electrical needs substantial work. Chimneys need work.
We lost three chickens to a red fox. Decided to pen them in. No losses since then. My wife saw the fox once, but that’s it. Tried putting out a live trap with chicken bait, but no luck yet. We just had our 4 turkeys butchered by one of the Amish guys I’ve met (more later). They decided to just sit around the food and eat all day. Got costly and hurt our other birds’ ability to eat. Final straw was when they ganged up on one of our geese and held her down while pecking at her head. They were separated from the rest until processing day. Four girls have a foot infection so our egg production is down right now, which isn’t bad because we were getting a dozen a day with no way to get rid of them during the summer. (More later)
Computer is making a funny noise so I guess I will finish this at work tomorrow.

for my last day of work until 09-11 or unless I get fired after my meeting with the owner at 2:00 . . .I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

08/29/2019 at 9:31 pm #2064020For all I have been on here this summer, I should do the “remember me” start too. JimandLinda, our house is up for sale and we’re going the no stairs route too. Packing and running stuff to storage, closer to the new house.
08/30/2019 at 6:50 am #2064021Congrats! We accepted the offer of the first people that looked at ours. Inspection on Tuesday. Closing in a month. Still packing but the good thing is, we are down-sizing, so a lot of “stuff” is getting tossed! Kinda bittersweet, but it was time.
Good luck with your sale!
Oh. FTP for Badger Friday!
08/31/2019 at 6:21 am #2064022FTP for SATURDAY August 31st
Honoring our Wisconsin Unions with a history of making our Labor Day celebration possible!I’d Rather Be Lost Geocaching, Than Found At Home!
08/31/2019 at 4:26 pm #2064024Congrats! We accepted the offer of the first people that looked at ours.
Curious, who set your asking price? We are thinking realtor set ours too high but then again, that is where they are suppose to be the “expert”. Also, want to know who took the photos, ours are pretty bad of the inside, taken by the realtor.
08/31/2019 at 4:36 pm #2064025You should always price it a bit higher than you will settle for. If they take it at that price, take the money and run. If they counter-offer with a lower amount (that isn’t an insult) that you are happy with, they will be happy, too.
09/01/2019 at 7:44 am #2064032FTP for the 1st day of September!

Agree with that but haven’t even gotten an offer. Four showings in 51 days, something seems a little off!
09/01/2019 at 10:12 am #2064034My sister’s house in Des Moines goes on the market 9/5. Assessed value is $150,000. Realtor suggested setting the asking price at $135,000. She suggested that we go as low as $125,000.

09/01/2019 at 7:11 pm #2064043I’ll just slip into post #13 while I’m here, it’s a lucky number I have.
The buck stops here. . .and gets entered into Where's George.
Where's George? Stimulating the economy one EMS'ed dollar at a time.
09/01/2019 at 9:06 pm #2064044Yes, BigJim. Two different selling situations.
When my son bought his house in Wild Rose, they were asking 60K, which was a very good price. It was being sold from an estate. I told him to offer 50K and settle for 55K. The heirs took the 50K! When I went to look at the property a week after closing, I discovered it was a double lot! They can sell the other lot in the future if they choose to.
C560 is a personal home and it looks like it is a bit frustrating right now. The right buyers will show up at the right time, I’m sure. Hang in there! Remember, you’re selling a “house”. It’s the memories of it being your “home” that are taken with you.
