I’ve noticed a change in myself since moving back to Wisconsin: I’m much more cautious about personal safety when caching. As I think back about some of the risks I took driving to/from caches or the actual scaling of (what we in Wisconsin would consider to be) mountains, and now I doubt whether I should park at a wayside and look for a cache like this. Keep in mind, I’ve climbed over 1000 feet to get to some caches and this one and this one were two of my real regrets for not getting to before we left. Maybe its because I think about being in tight quarters and that can get me anxious, but climbing and even walking along narrow paths doesn’t bother me?

09/10/2019 at 2:14 pm #2064091I had an interesting day so far today, and it’s barely 2 in the afternoon. I had to run downtown this morning on an errand, so I scheduled that to coincide with another event – that was a lunch time walk with the Mayor. There were about 50 people there including myself and several police officers who were with us. On the walk, we witnessed a two collision just a couple blocks into the walk. That was rather interesting to see happen.

We will never forget . . .I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

09/11/2019 at 11:01 am #2064096Quite a change in attitudes last night as I was canvassing. Two nights ago I feared for my life. Last night, someone offered me a beer. Also placed a new cache…I should start working on the puzzle while I have time.

Just curious what you were canvassing for. I’m sure we could swap stories.
It was raining cats and dogs for about an hour this morning, and it looks like we might get hit again this afternoon and tomorrow as well.

09/12/2019 at 2:03 pm #2064108Looks like Green Bay is due for another couple of inches of rain tonight. I’ll report back later on what happens.

I’m canvassing for the upcoming Census, verifying addresses before the big mailing, and yes, I have some stories. When I ran for Assembly I hit over 10,000 doors but this job has more stories than that one because I’m in a much different role. No, I can’t share them on here.
On a different note, I got a message this morning about my latest puzzle cache. Seems someone went to the dummy coordinates to look for the cache. I figured they must be new to the game and gave them a general hint about solving the puzzle first before looking for the container and finding the coordinates within the cache page instead.
I had time now to look up their profile. Over 1000 finds. Hmm??? Then I saw they only had 16 ? finds and all of there were solve-on-site. That makes sense. I think I’ll edit the description to reflect this. Glad I had the dummy coordinates in a parking lot and not the middle of a farm field.
School year is going good. We got approval for our loan to fix things. The house may finally start to be a home soon.

09/12/2019 at 9:30 pm #2064110I have a few stories from various campaigns I’ve worked on, I even give those stories names. I should tell you the story about the Jefferson Street Nutjob some time.

09/12/2019 at 10:54 pm #2064111It’s been raining hard for what may be close to an hour now. Just heard the eaves begin to overflow. The subfloor in the new house had standing water this morning and nowhere to squeege it out. May try a shop vac and a generator tomorrow. Wish they had at least gotten the felt (?) on. The fill next to the building sunk so much that I was thankful for the “brick ledge” to use as a step. Guess that is one way to compact it!
