Along with several other area birders, I paid my final respects to the fellow who was my birding mentor here.  He will be buried with his binoculars in hand.  We all chuckled at the visitation when we noticed that!

My “trap-line” is set up in the garage. 4 mice and 1 mole so far. Getting ready for the deer hunt opener this Saturday too.

            We might just hit 1,118 today . . .

Anything good on the trail cams Linda?

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

No cams set up, but I should since the strap from my stand was stolen. So I’ll go out on Friday to replace it. I’m thinking the same person who keeps stealing my caches too. I’ll need a cam to set up for next year! to catch the culprit in the act, not the deer. LOL

In case the word hasn’t spread – there is a new set of Challenge Caches out “Up North.” 97 so far and 130 on the horizon. Everyday there are a few more published. Reviewer Johnny Waypoint has been kept VERY BUSY! and is doing an awesome job. The location will be along the Tri-County Corridor (former railroad grade so the terrain is gentle, but lots of T4-5’s with TOTTSs) of Ashland, Bayfield, and Douglas Counties from the cities of Ashland to Superior. The 130 caches are now strung out from Superior to Maple and again 97 are published to date with more on the way. It’s an exciting adventure to be a part of, whether you are a finder or a hider!

Sounds like an overnight trip for those of us who live south of 64.

Getting to 1118: On this day years ago — 1883: Railroads create the first time zones
American and Canadian railroads began using four continental time zones to end the confusion of dealing with thousands of local times. The bold move was emblematic of the power shared by the railroad companies.
