All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

We are not for a lack of sporting events this winter that’s for sure!

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

Not only did the Pack win, but my son scored a ticket for the $120 face value!

I bet that won’t happen for next Sunday’s game!

That’s awesome! Fortunately, I get to go to Packer games each year. One of the best years was going with Lacknothing during the playoffs. However, that is when Jordy Nelson got his ribs broke 🙁 But, we won. Her and I make a good commentating team. Ask her! Move over Dumb & Dumber LOL! P.S. You know who I am talking about 😉

I am in a conundrum . . . Not sure why people won’t run for BOD. It’s not hard. It just requires a little bit of effort to think outside the box and always keep the membership as #1 priority.

We only have 4 on the ballot with 5 open positions. It’s doable as such but kinda sad. I was ready to be done this year to be able to bring in new people and fresh ideas. I’m kinda thinking about running again if we only have 4 people. BUT, I can only do it for 1 more year but not fulfill all of the duties required other than being there as a resource for the 4 on the ballot that will likely get elected. The 4 on the ballot are absolutely worthy of a spot. The candidates are from all over the state which is great!

What do you all think? I don’t want to be just a body, but I don’t want to see an empty seat on the BOD. I probably won’t be at 75% of all of the events either. However, I’d absolutely voice the opinions of the membership and do the behind the scenes work I absolutely luv to do. I’d like to know your thoughts. What would you do? Better yet? Can I nominate you? I know who is here 😉

The WGA is 19 years old this year 🙂

Dawn, that’s quite the conundrum for both you and the WGA.  What would happen if there aren’t enough candidates to fill the available seats?

The buck stops here. . .and gets entered into Where's George.

The BOD can temporarily suspend the By-Laws (by motion) to appoint another Director by the newly seated BODs. Otherwise, the BOD can function with 8, since it is still a quorum. Whichever is in the best interest of the members.

I agree with Dawn it really isn’t hard.  And you are never alone in what you do.  The rest of the BOD is there to help even if it is something you volunteered to do and run into a snag along the way.  It would be nice to have at least 2 more people run so we can have a real election.  Don’t be afraid to give it a try.  You might be surprised at how easy it really is.

I don’t have a perfect solution for the BOD election situation.  I have been nominated a few times over the years, but always have a valid reason why it is not going to happen.  Ironically, I probably could have served in my early geocaching years, but since I didn’t know many WGA members, I wasn’t nominated and wouldn’t have even considered asking to be.  So, maybe that is an idea?  Seek out relatively new members who are excited to get their feet wet.  Are there people on Facebook who have been active in the discussions or asked questions about the WGA?  We used to get people posting in the New Member Forum thread, and many people used to welcome them, but it has been a year since anyone posted there.  Also, rawevil, maybe you could run with full disclosure of the partial commitment, and perhaps there can be a midterm election as in the past?

And while on the subject, whose terms are up this year?

I was nominated in the past, once, and declined because I really didn’t know much about what the WGA does. Then we moved to Oregon anyway, so that would’ve been less than optimal. I still haven’t attended any events due to family stuff – hoping for the Chili feed – but that would probably just be a drive there, say hello and then turn around and come home. I can’t see myself having time to commit to working at an event for several years down the road, and then only if they are close to Sandland.

That thought has crossed my mind. raslas, BigJim, sevencards, HamFam, and rawevil’s terms are up. BigJim is the only one of the 5 rerunning.

I’ve been asked a number of times too…but have/had a number of valid reasons not to run. Sorry 🙁
On a brighter side…I found out in the newsletter that I’m very nice… and it was 68 degrees today 🙂

If you were nice, you wouldn’t mention the temperature there.
