for 03-05-2020. Make it a good day y’all!

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

I spent the day on a Habitat build site.Ā  It’s been a few months, but it was good to be back at it.Ā  I had forgotten how much my body aches in the evening after a day doing that, though!Ā  I don’t plan to be a core construction crew member like I was before, but look forward to being on site a couple times a month now.

for 03-06-2020 . . . did everyone read the BOD minutes? Not quite sure how I feel about this forum “not being valuable”. I think its a great way to keep in touch.

Yeah, I wasn’t too keen about that comment.

FTP for Saturday. Heading out soon for Mole Lake. Making a donation to the tribe. Probably won’t do much caching. There is an old virtual across the road from the casino that I’m planning to do.

I saw that comment in the board minutes as well.Ā  This is the forum that actually gets the most traffic anymore.Ā  Maybe whoever made the comment needs to stop in here, LOL

And….in other news, we’re leaving in just a bit to pick up our son and grand-daughter and head to the Owl Festival. She is *finally* getting to go, and will compete in the kids hooting contest.Ā  Trekkin’ and I went yesterday already, but we’re happy to go again.Ā  Last night we saw Ladysmith Black Mambazo in Viroqua.Ā  Fun stuff.Ā  Good luck at the casino, Jim.Ā  Is that the Battle Over Rice virtual?Ā  Spirit Rock is up that way, too.

                    How’d the hooting go?

Ladysmith Black Mambazo came to UWEC when I was there during peak Paul Simon days. I was too stupid to go see them now, but they come up frequently as either “solo” artists or part of their collaboration with Simon on the playlist I have going during school. The current crop of kids don’t “get” them like they did years ago, but tastes are cyclical and exposure to different things is part of what makes us better people, so I don’t skip over them like I may when “70 minutes of Minecraft music” comes up. The kids really like that, and they sure work quietly when that stuff is playing, but I can only hear it so much.

It was the Battle Over Rice virt. I did Spirit Rock several years ago when I was working on the 72 Counties Challenge. The casino had ups and downs. We got there around 3:30, and by 5:00 we were up almost $150. After dinner we gave that all back.

                        I went to prison Friday.

I turned myself in, signed in, and then was taken to the jail where a photograph was taken.Ā  I was read the historical act, led back to central records by two female guards, and then released OR…very appropriate given the name of the town, I suppose.

I thought I heard a Hummingbird today. It took a moment to sink in and by the time I turned to the window it was gone. I can’t believe that one is here yet but I hear them at that window all the time in the summer so I know what the sound is. I did some checking and they have been spotted in central Arkansas four days ago so if a few got caught up in that strong southerly wind we’ve had the last few days they could easily be here.
