03/12/2020 at 8:41 am #2066088Who will be checking for fevers at the WGA Campout?
One to a tent this year? Just to be safe?
Meals delivered to your tent?
Free wipes to clean each cache container after you find it?
Where else can you read such good member ideas other than in the Thread Stealers thread!

I like the meals on wheels idea 😉
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

03/12/2020 at 2:23 pm #2066090Just had a coronavirus emergency meeting at work for what precautions the company is taking since the governor has declared a state of emergency. No customer or vendor visits and no traveling. You can take a vacation outside of the country, but you must self quarantine yourself for two weeks after you return on your own dime unless you have extra vacation to burn. Makes sense, but some of the other things on the “list” didn’t.

03/12/2020 at 3:38 pm #2066091I am not an alarmist, but this is a new virus and the information on its spread is evolving all the time. I guess I’m glad to see that businesses and other organizations are choosing to err in favor of caution. Read the history of the 1918 flu epidemic. Anyone who’s done WSQ caches will see many who were lost during that time.
My mom lives in a senior citizen apartment building, and she just read me the new regulations for visitors. Basically I’d have to check in at the nursing home part and pass a serious screening…..which is kind of annoying, but good to know, too. She’s 95; I wonder if I could drive up there, call her from the parking lot and bust her out of there to visit us here? She’d probably be game for that.
03/12/2020 at 7:01 pm #2066092Ah, crap!!! It looks like our cruise down the Danube is going to be cancelled:( I picked up a TB today…should I scrub it and myself down?

for 03-06-2020 . . . did everyone read the BOD minutes? Not quite sure how I feel about this forum “not being valuable”. I think its a great way to keep in touch.Yeah, I wasn’t too keen about that comment.
As one of the board members that likely expressed that sentiment during the meeting, I will absolutely defend the thought that “FTP for [insert some random thing here]” is not particularly valuable. That doesn’t mean there aren’t good things about this thread otherwise. But consider this…the regulars here have sort of made the conversation unapproachable to outsiders by burying them in this long-running thread.
My comments are mine alone and may not necessarily reflect an official stance of the WGA Board of Directors.
03/13/2020 at 7:34 am #2066094FTP for Friday the 13th. We have the day off of school. Not because of Covid-19, just a scheduled day off that was put into the calendar in case we needed a make-up day for weather cancellations. We haven’t needed to cancel at all this year, so we get today off.
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.
03/13/2020 at 8:55 am #2066095And now Disney World is closing down on Saturday…feel so badly for the grandkids. They were really looking forward to it 🙁
My spring allergies are kicking into gear this week…it’s amazing how suddenly life can [insert your emoji here].Oconto...the birthplace of western civilization:)
03/13/2020 at 11:20 am #2066096This is one of the ONLY threads on the WGA site that members can express ANY opinion about ANYTHING in real time.
The last Forum topic with a recent post was 7 days ago.
Yes, you will need to sort out the drivel from the serious content, but without Member surveys to feel the pulse of the membership, WGA Directors are just guessing on what the Members want. The Association needs Directors that can delegate responsibilities all year to develop future nominees for the elections. I am looking forward to the monthly updates of BOD topics that will be posted on this site. As a former Director, it will be refreshing!

03/14/2020 at 10:16 am #2066101Got our census questionnaire in the mail yesterday. Filled it out before I logged on here. For my family of four, it took less than 5 minutes. Interesting that there wasn’t a paper questionnaire to fill out, they give you a website and code to access the form online.
Yesterday was my last day of census job training. If you don’t do the online form, someone will be paying you a visit in mid-April to get you a paper one to fill out. For now, we are going around and dropping off forms at places that either don’t have mailing addresses (PO box, I think) and other places. We went to the area around the golf course west of Green Lake yesterday. Lots of vacation homes & trailers, no people, naturally. So many families will be showing up to their cottage “up north” and finding forms hanging on them long after they filled out the one at their main home. We found out as we were leaving that we’re not supposed to approach people now, just hang stuff on doors and then leave. Reminds me of all the campaigning I did 10+ years ago!
Worst thing about yesterday, besides hanging forms where we know nobody lives, was having to drive past all the caches around the golf course.
I’m looking forward to my vacation from work starting on Thursday. That gives me plenty of opportunity to get 40 hours of Census work done each week! Plus work around the farmstead. Maybe some caching too.

Do you mean that if I fill-out and return the paper questionnaire that I received yesterday that I will get an additional one ?
03/14/2020 at 1:29 pm #2066103Just saw my first robin of the year…right about on time, I’d say. Chatty bird too. If I hadn’t heard it, I might not have seen it. Not a great photo, but it’s what I could get without scaring it away.

I don’t know about everyone else, but I went to get some pie and caches.
