Anyone notice that the number of caches in Wisconsin has been going down? Archives are outnumbering new caches. Last time I looked there was just under 28,982. Today there is 28,611

And after another round of archives, there are now 28,588 caches in the state.

        Today’s search shows 28,589

FTP for Sunday. I was duly impressed by the use of masks in Door County yesterday. Every business had signs saying that face coverings were required, and I even witnessed employees in one business reminding a patron to put on a mask.

We took a day trip there once this summer and experienced the same thing…wish Oconto would do the same.
City Hall is closed because a couple of employees tested positive. One of our finer drinking establishments that has live music every weekend shut down, desanitized, and reopened. The owner tested positive…wonder how many people he infected along the way. And we have a couple of friends that acquired it even though they take all the necessary precautions. They haven’t been hospitalized…yet…but they are miserable! The numbers in town have really spiked in the past two weeks…am almost afraid to step outside. It’s a good thing the library is open:) I sure am glad I’m retired…I don’t think I could handle teaching during this time:(

          Oconto...the birthplace of western civilization:)

I’m not sure I can handle it, either.

              Good luck teachers!

I start my virtual teaching tomorrow with a teacher proctoring my classes. Still not exactly sure how (or how well) this will work. I’m also “teaching” the kids doing math through our virtual school. Still don’t know what that is going to mean either. They start a week late and have to cram a semester’s worth of work into a trimester (18 weeks into 11 because of the late start).

I was invited to a virtual classroom meeting with kids in a class and when the screen popped up there were a bunch of kids, with masks, hovering around the camera. At least they had masks on.

The last dream I had before I woke up was being in the hallways at school and watching all the kids walk around between classes without masks and acting as if everything was normal. Then, they put them on as they walked into the classrooms.

Waiting on a plumber to come and degunk a pipe again and talk to him about a more permanent solution. The pipe is almost horizontal, so I know what they need to do. I think the geese chewed on an outdoor faucet enough that it’s leaking to the point the pump runs often enough we notice it. They go there for water instead of drinking out of the two pools set up for them 30′ away.

Maybe I’ll have time to work on a field puzzle listing today.

FTP for Hump Day the 2nd!

Starting tomorrow, our grand-daughter will be here for her online school, since her mom, who was let go from the local Chamber due to the pandemic, (non-profit, lost funding, last hired, first let go) finally found something full time that starts tomorrow.  Kind of cuts into our caching possibilities in the near future, but I’m glad we’re here to help out.  I do not know what we’d have done if something like this happened when our boys were young….probably one of us would have had to take a leave of absence.  Good luck to all the teachers….this is just one more thing, and people need to remember not to scapegoat our educators for everything….for a change.

Thanks T&B. So far it has been a challenge, teaching both in-person and virtually at the same time. We have had technology issues and issues with parents not understanding/following instructions. Getting ready for day 3.

Two days down for my teaching “in person” kids virtually. Could be much worse. Prepping the same class and same material for two classes that are different lengths each day, plus one being on a 6-week duration and the other 12-weeks has been a challenge. Plus they keep playing with the activities during the 12-week class because that period is also being used for homeroom & other things the school needs kids to do every week. Some days I will have 70 minutes of their time (minus time for them to eat breakfast, which starts 10 minutes after the class starts).

The virtual kids don’t start next week, how that is being handled is still in the works. Maybe we’ll know more after the meeting we’re having in 30 minutes. Every meeting up to now hasn’t really answered anything, and things that we were told would have been done a week or more ago haven’t been done.

Maybe do some caching today. Or cut the grass. Probably cut the grass.
