11/24/2020 at 10:44 am #2067380Trekkin’ hasn’t been out for the regular gun deer season in years. He hunts with blackpowder and has gone out during those seasons, but not lately. Too much CWD. He can “hunt” without a gun now.
What is everyone doing for Thanksgiving this year? We have had typically small gatherings, just my sons and their families….so only 7 people. But three of those people now live in Colorado. We’ve agreed that I’ll make thanksgiving stuff, call my son when I’m ready to drop off their half and then leave it on their deck. And…..we are only putting up our sad, sad fake Charlie Brown tree for Christmas this year. No one will be here for it, anyway. One less place where we’ll be running into maskless people that way.
What a long strange trip it’s been.
11/25/2020 at 7:18 am #2067381FTP Wed the 25th Finished up the hunt and now to continue the butchering. My bro shot a big spike buck. Likely a 2 1/2 year old so it had plenty of venison for the two of us. Getting out the meat grinder and vacuum packer today. Good weather this year as compared to the cold and blustery winds last year. Pleasant to sit in the stand for 4 days. Lots of wildlife out there to provide entertainment this year. First time seeing racoons out and about.

11/27/2020 at 5:25 am #2067383FTP for Black Friday. I’m continuing to wake up around 5 am so am up to going on-line early before the daily chores need attention. Several of us gathered at 4 pm last night for an outdoor campfire and microwaved turkey dinner brought out to the yard. Social distancing and masking for all. Glad it was a mild 35 degrees for this new kind of Thanksgiving. Perhaps more like the original dinner years ago – outside! The group decided to go home when our toes were numb!

11/29/2020 at 6:28 am #2067388FTP for Sunday Streaking? LOL Clean up the yard, putting the deer stands away for the season. Now cleaning up the basement for a water meter replacement this week and possible future plumber to put in a back flow value with I’m sure my old 100 year old historic house does not have. Maybe even have to put in a sump pump. Will certainly combine other plumber projects if needed too.

11/29/2020 at 9:35 pm #2067389Still one big buck out there. Saw him about 7 AM, just before sun up, walking about 20 yards from my son’s deer stand. Unfortunately, my son wasn’t hunting today, and 300 yards was a bit far for a 12 gauge slug to travel.
Maybe next year.
11/30/2020 at 6:00 am #2067390FTP for Cyber Monday the day for hackers and scammers to pry upon credit cards! I’ve had 2 in the past compromised at this time of year. How about you?

12/01/2020 at 10:12 pm #2067392Anyone notice that the number of caches in Wisconsin has been going down? Archives are outnumbering new caches. Last time I looked there was just under 28,982. Today there is 28,611
And after another round of archives, there are now 28,588 caches in the state.
Today’s search (8/23/2020) shows 28,589
I should probably date these things. Today, 12/1/2020 the number of active caches in Wisconsin is down to 28,338

12/02/2020 at 7:06 am #2067393FTP for Wednesday. Guess we WGA members need to get out there to repopulate the caches across the state! A thought here – perhaps the drop is because cachers are putting out labs which would not be a part of the count. How many labs out there now? I put out 10 and two mystery bonus caches with them.
