A couple of years ago I loaded a bunch of caches onto my Nuvi, went out and found them, and deleted them. Last year I found them back on the Nuvi and deleted them again. Today I found them back on the Nuvi again. Anyone know how to delete something from a Nuvi, short of placing it behind the rear wheel before backing out of the parking area.

You can delete the GPX file, which doesn’t do the job because they’ll come right back, as you found out. There are supposedly two ways to permanently get rid of them. One way is to reset the unit to its factory defaults. But then any other saved locations are gone too. There is another way that Garmin once mentioned to me in a tech support call, but I went the reset route and don’t recall what it was. It’s interesting to note that in Garmin handheld GPSr’s all you have to do is delete the GPX file. But in automobile Nuvi’s that way doesn’t work. From time to time I just reset my Nuvi, and re-enter my home coords.

I am still using the old Pilotsnipes macro for gsak to load my nuvi 200. with that the POI loader needs to delete all the cache file and then I reload the one I want.

When I delete mine, I plug it into my computer, open the computer menu, open the drive it’s in, open the GPX file, open the Archive file and delete anything that’s in there. That’s always done the trick for me ::):

I did it the same way as bartrod but now I use GSAK and the favorites macro that someone (H1&2?) on here uses.  It puts in the name plus the GC#, D/T and size.

I *finally* spotted my life bird Merlin today on our way home from caching in northeast Iowa!!!!!!

I’m sure we’ve passed by quite a few, but this time we were traveling slow enough and it was close enough that I could discern the field marks to identify. Winerie, caching, life birds and sunshine. Does it get any better?

Chocolate would be good. We did stop at the blue roof place in Decorah for sundaes. But I had caramel cashew.
