Happy Birthday!
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

05/23/2015 at 12:02 am #2040028So I switched to a different map on GC.COM that shows county lines. Looks like there’s about 5 or 6 caches left that I have to get in Menominee County, MI. One is on the river. So I’ll have to wait for hard water season to get it. The rest of them, I made it a goal to get them this month as 3 of them are together in one area, two in another and the last one near me on an ATV trail. I may have to take my bicycle in for that one. Looking forward to clearing out my home county. Thankfully, I don’t live in Marinette County. That is a HUGE area with far more caches, especially in the backwoods that my car cannot get to such as Potato Lake.
Really? What map?

I haven’t switched maps on GC.com, but I often DO switch maps with the geocaching app on my iPhone. I use a Garmin Oregon650 as well as the geocaching.com iPhone app. If you switch to the opencycle map on the iPhone app, it shows you the trails in parks. It came in handy last week at the WGA Campout at High Cliff when following the trails.

That’s something to consider when I’m on the trails.
I still use an outdated Garmin Venture HC to cache with. No maps on it. So I’m at the mercy of figuring out where the trails lead.
I do have c:GEO on my Samsung Galaxy S3, which I use for the paperless aspect as my Garmin Venture HC does not contain the cache information. It only contains the GC Code and the name of the cache.
Hmm. I’ll have to look to see what maps c:GEO has that I can use, at least for trail navigation.
Somewhere down the road though, I’ll probably upgrade to a better GPS unit that actually has maps on it. I just don’t have the money for that right now, but using my Venture HC along with c:GEO on my Galaxy S3 works well for me right now.
But I definitely will look at the map options on my phone.Thanks.
05/23/2015 at 2:40 pm #2040034Blew a tire on our way up north. Put the tiny spare on, then turned around and came back home. Much easier this way. Up north will still be there, I don’t think it’s on any major fault lines.
05/23/2015 at 3:30 pm #2040035No, but an F-5 tornado could wipe it off the map 😛
All kidding aside, hope your car is ok. New tires are not cheap.
05/23/2015 at 5:46 pm #2040038Thanks. We lucked out and got it patched. Trekkin’ is thinking of replacing it before winter and wants to avoid buying new tires for it.
