Todd, new cache in Peshtigo. Don’t recognize the name of the CO either.

05/23/2015 at 8:43 pm #20400448 more for 800. There is a section of the OC&E that has 8 caches on it 🙂

05/23/2015 at 10:15 pm #2040046I really can’t play pool.
Oh the woes of the short geocacher!

I saw that. I got the notification on my phone about 7:30pm my time last night. but I don’t chase FTF’s anymore. I’ll let someone else have it. Bartrod will probably find it this morning if he’s home. I did send a Facebook message to a geocaching friend of mine who lives in Peshtigo, but is not a premium member. Hopefully she gets the message and looks for it.
As for the CO, he only has 2 finds. He thinks he’s an expert on geocaching now with that many finds. I bet he placed it with a smartphone which is never accurate for cache placement. One time I was FTF on a cache that was placed with an I-Phone that was 100 feet away from the actual coordinates.
This particular cache in Peshtigo published last night is probably on the Ellis Memorial Trail. I actually have walked that trail to scout out some spots to hide a cache or two of my own and it is definitely not a T3 trail like this CO put in the cache page. And the trail is much closer to the water. But according to the cache page, the cache itself is only 100 feet from the road. Something is hinky here.
I’ll eventually get to it when I get out there to place my own caches. I also have a plan to put one out at Badger Park as the one over there got archived a few months ago.
On a side note, I put a “Needs Archived” log on another cache owned by an out-of-town CO that went missing. This particular one got removed due to construction at the waterfront marina some time ago. I stopped by that cache this morning to verify this after I saw a string of DNF logs in my email. I hate out-of-town CO’s. They never are around to take care of their caches.
05/24/2015 at 9:18 am #2040051We were literally driving out the garage to go look for a couple local caches when the skies opened up. Yes, I know “real” geocachers don’t let rain stop them, but as a real cache owner, I hate the results when people find ours in the rain. If it lets up, maybe we’ll go out later. The rest of the weekend looks to be pretty much a bust anywhere we could drive. Good day to practice our instruments (which Trekkin’ is doing as I type) and get to some indoor projects.
05/24/2015 at 9:22 am #2040052Nice over here right now, cloudy and cool. But it looks like things will change in a few hours.
05/24/2015 at 9:35 am #2040053Mr. S went out earlier than usual for his bike ride, but he still had to cut it short by a couple of miles when the rain started. Time to settle in to watch Indy before heading to a birthday party for a ten-year-old great-niece later today.
05/24/2015 at 10:05 am #2040054Did our caching yesterday. Today is movie day – Tomorrowland.
05/24/2015 at 10:24 am #2040056Sitting in a small local diner where the guys are talking politics that is diametrically opposed to mine and shutting my mouth is not easy. But I did it.

05/24/2015 at 10:27 am #2040057Simple trip to kwiktrip to get eggs turns into a sitting spell waiting for my brother to come follow me home. I have no drive….maybe low….MAYBE. This transmission isn’t even 5 months old!!! There goes my day fishing & trying to find a cache or two. I need a drink or 6!!!
05/24/2015 at 11:53 am #2040058I want a Tomorrowland review, please? We might go see it tomorrow.
I had to work for a few hours this morning. Now, I am napping and watching the race. Before, we head out for a wet BBQ with friends. I might bake a rhubarb cake. The ladies are at a wedding shower.
We cached Friday. We ended the day with 37. I still have logs to write. I plan on going to Lakefront SP in the morning. There are two new (er) caches in that area.
05/24/2015 at 12:45 pm #2040061A new geocacher just found one of my caches, saying it was her very first find. I immediately sent her a “welcome to geocaching” email. It’s always nice to see new people get interested in the hobby. My area is definitely lacking of geocachers. Other than HappyDorkGirl and myself, no one in my area is active.
All the caches in my area outside of my own are now owned by inactive CO’s and it’s a sad situation here.
I gotta figure out a way to promote geocaching in the area and get it going again.
