Got bad news on Bill yesterday. Weāre going to have to take him to either Appleton or Madison for an MRI. The vet thinks he has shunting in his liver. Depending on results of the MRI it could mean surgery to correct. He doesnāt show any symptoms now, but over time it can cause seizures and other problems.
So sorry Jim!Ā That must be very hard.

07/02/2015 at 11:10 am #2040991Maybe since Bill is not showing any symptoms, it’s something else, or at least he can handle the surgery/treatment better since he’s in good shape. Keep us updated, BigJim.

I’m sorry to hear this. Hopefully he can get the care he needs and then happily return to doggy life.
07/02/2015 at 4:27 pm #2040996Changing the subject hereā¦SL wondered the other day if a person found a highly favorited D5 cache, would they get both souvenirs? I wandered over to the GS forums and a person posted that they had found a high favorite cache in a new state. They got the state souvenir but not the road trip one.
So there you have it.
That just doesn’t seem fair at all. Defeats the point of taking a road trip!

07/02/2015 at 4:36 pm #2040997We still listen to podcasts of WPR shows. When Larry Mieller has the head of the UW vet clinic on, it is a must to listen to, she’s great! She also speaks highly of the other clinic.
We finally took our two in to a vet. She’s awesome, reminds us of the UW vet. Besides the shots we took them in to get, she removed fox tails from ears – nasty seed heads. My avatar had two ruptured ear drums. Probably from our adventures when the family was back in MI. She says it’s common this time of year. Some dogs come in multiple times a week.
Hope you get answers to help make a decision. The best sig is no sig.
07/02/2015 at 4:37 pm #2040998I always enjoy BigJim’s stories about Bill. It seems weird a lot of times seeing the name “Bill” in the story. This time not so much a happy story. The good news is that I’m almost 10 in dog years and still going strong. Bill is a young strong pup so I’m sure he will be fine. You know I will be wishing him well.

07/02/2015 at 5:58 pm #2041000Jim, so sorry to hear Bill is not feeling well. Ā Did the Vet suggest a diet change to help manage his liver issues until you find out if he needs surgery?
07/02/2015 at 9:07 pm #2041001Well, if weāre talking average now, we have 164.

Iām wondering if those stats were just on the āFound Itā logs, since some of ours go so long that we have to divide them into log-and-note to get everything we want to say in.
But I still have āmore posts than findsāā¦

Believe me, if Mr. S was responsible for writing the logs, we would have 3500 TFTCs… or maybe even no finds recorded at all. š
