Finally got a campsite this morning…power still out to the north… Lots and lots of trees down.
Oconto...the birthplace of western civilization:)

08/03/2015 at 2:29 pm #2041868Thanks for the advice on the car and the camera. I called the mechanic and was told that indeed there is a counter and it is their fault for not resetting it. I can stop by anytime and they will do it. The camera, well, that will take some more research. Both are not the kind of problems to have on the horizon of a vacation.
08/03/2015 at 3:48 pm #2041874Inquiring about Charter because of a challenge cache someone around here logged. Doing more research tells me the cache is in VA

08/03/2015 at 4:08 pm #2041875I must have the attention span of a gnat. I totally forgot about this morning’s charter member discussion, and just now I was trying to figure out Noonan’s post and why he needed Charter cable to log a challenge… 🙄
08/03/2015 at 4:44 pm #2041876Car–I had an oil change a month ago and have driven about 1000 miles and now my change oil soon light is coming on. Could this be something simple like a sensor or something catastrophic like I don’t even want to imagine?
Debbie- this is easily done from Home, too.
Basic instructions:
- Turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position. Do not start the engine.
- Press the accelerator pedal completely to the floor slowly three times within a 10-second span.
- Turn the ignition switch to the “OFF” position.
- Turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position again. The oil light should be off. If the oil light is still illuminated, repeat the previous steps.
It could be possible that your vehicle is slightly different but my guess is it won’t be otherwise all the Oil Change places would have to know all the different methods.
Following the signals from space.
08/03/2015 at 5:58 pm #2041878I’d let the mechanic do it.
My instructions are to turn the key on and hold the gas pedal and brake down for three seconds or until the display says its clear.
08/03/2015 at 6:05 pm #2041879I think many of us will identify with this cache description.
I hate when extraneous text shows up when you put in links.

08/03/2015 at 6:41 pm #2041881So do we take a road trip out to GC11NAD or go to Shopko Senior Day on Wednesday?

I took the money that I was going to spend at Shopko and signed up for a 1 year subscription.
08/03/2015 at 8:12 pm #2041883Thanks again for the car tips. When I went in, the same guy who did the oil change came out and said it is likely he forgot to reset it, although he said sometimes with older cars, the reset doesn’t always take. He showed me how to reset it; it is a box under the hood with a screw cap, and I turn the engine on but not start the car, then push the correct button in the box. The box actually has the instructions on it.
