08/16/2015 at 9:26 pm #2042184We’re back, too. Only we didn’t travel as far or as long as most around here.
Funny thing happened today. We were caching our way home down the Keweenaw, and had stopped at the roadside park with the ruler that shows the record snowfalls in the Keweenaw. There were two other caches as well as the virtual, and as we were in the woods at one of them, a car pulls alongside and the passenger starts walking in, saying “So there’s a cache in there?” We looked, she looked and it was our friend accordiongal…from Rochester Minnesota. What are the odds?????

08/16/2015 at 11:06 pm #2042186Only 31 more EarthCaches to log. How do I do the “shocked” face emoticon? This is going to take me forever.
08/16/2015 at 11:59 pm #2042187I don’t have 31 total earthcaches yet.
Hey T&B, the TB of ours that you placed in Aztalan was just reported missing. No one mentioned it until today, all this time! Bummed out. 🙁

08/17/2015 at 7:09 am #2042189Noonan, that completely sucks. We visited a few caches this weekend that listed bugs but I don’t think there were any. Bugs are supposed to be fun, but they’re just frustrating. Sorry that happened. I thought that cache seemed like a safe spot to leave it.

08/17/2015 at 9:19 am #2042191I just dropped our granddaughter off for her first day of drama camp. Pretty excited little girl. We’ll be attending a production of “The Wizard of Oz” later this week and looking for our favorite Munchkin.
08/17/2015 at 9:20 am #2042192Down to only 29 more EarthCaches to log. Sheesh! I haven’t bothered to dump my pictures from this trip yet, but we enjoyed some pretty amazing scenery. And my kayak was in the water for the first time in forever!
08/17/2015 at 9:44 am #2042194:13: and only 28 more EarthCaches to log (plus the other caches we did over the past three days!)
08/17/2015 at 9:53 am #2042196Those WanderingTracks people keep us moving to the caches….we haven’t had cache counts on a trip like this in a long time. 😉

Picked up a TB yesterday that had been at the WBCB ’12. I see Zuma! had it in Sally’s TB hotel (sic). Ecorangers K Spud and lagrac all had it at one point too. Anyway, I’m digging through where some of these bugs have been, and I come across this several times where a major cacher in CA will be logging finds in California, then suddenly log a find in Nebraska, and then be back in California either the same or the next day. Always like that, BOOM in Nebraska to log a challenge cache find in the same trail of challenge caches and BOOM back in CA within 24 hours. Nothing in the logs about taking a trip to Nebraska. Sometimes something about taking a trip in an RV, but that must be some vehicle because it can make it all the way back to the same area he was caching in within a day. Sloppy logging? Inattentive CO on the challenge caches? Or, just the way some people play the game? Found it. Sloppy logging two years after the fact. Which is sort of funny, because it took a trip to Nebraska before it was even activated! The bug has over 39,000 miles on it. Most of them are from “trips” to and from Nebraska that never took place
There are folks who will sign a log on a challenge cache, then eventually qualify. They might “save” logging it as found for a day they need for some challenge….I’ve seen logs like “I just noticed I qualified for this.” Not how we choose to play that game, but some do. We also see people log events or EarthCaches or whatever on the wrong date, maybe even events or places they never attended or visited, knowing the log might get deleted, but even when deleted….they get their souvenir. That has happened with some we owned or hosted….often.
