“Birdin’
maybe one arm is stronger than the other.”
I’ll have to wait another week to learn if that’s the problem. For the benefit of those not on the face place, here’s what transpired last night…minus my somewhat dramatically lit photo of my poor kayak on the Lime Squeeze rooftop.
Six Degrees of Separation While Awaiting the Kayak Instructor
I had signed up to take a kayak skills class last night, and arrived at the location at the designated time. Shortly after that, the other student arrived and we chatted while waiting for our instructor. Well….the instructor never appeared, and after waiting for 45 minutes (thinking maybe he was still on the summer schedule) my fellow student called the store. We discovered the instructor had a family emergency out of state that morning and someone dropped the ball and never contacted us. Well, while standing around at a canoe launch for 45 minutes, you get to chat a lot. I learned that my fellow student moved here from Alamosa CO, which got me thinking….isn’t that where my cousin lives? Yup, you guessed it. This guy knew my cousin well, had worked with my cousin’s wife. If the instructor had shown up, I probably would never have discovered this random coincidence.
09/17/2015 at 9:48 am #2042921Say, jar42, if you need more mole pelts, you can run your trapline at our place. The last time I was out hand watering the terrorist plot (aka the garden), I blasted the hose stream into a few of the subway tunnels, and they collapsed. Of course, that’s not the same as setting lethal traps, but it felt good to destroy some of their handiwork. We still won’t be able to ride any horses in the side yard, though.
I don’t know, being Adams county there are probably permits involved.
09/17/2015 at 2:54 pm #2042935Another random question…I notice some people in this forum use other names for places that would seem to be commonly known (face place, starry place, blue roof place) and I wondered if there is some kind of rule that you aren’t supposed to use the actual names.
09/17/2015 at 2:58 pm #2042939No, amita17, that’s just us talking in drivel codespeak. It’s OK to say Facebook, Starbucks, and Culvers, but that wouldn’t be any fun, just like it’s no fun to call that frozen white stuff that will be here soon “snow”. Cool people use all the correct lingo, you know. 😉

09/17/2015 at 8:38 pm #2042950Some wet stuff actually came out of the sky yesterday. Of course, it was terrible timing because I was driving all day.
I think someone is camping here in town. Forgive me for posting a couple of the logs they’ve put online tonight. I wish I knew if they were still in town or posting them after they got back home from vacation!
Bonanza Campground (GC5EZGQ) I wanted to go to Bonanza to do some geocaching and thanks to this cache, we were able to find a place to spend the night, or three [;)]. Thanks!
Rebirth (GC5P24V) Cemetery caches are some of the best. We spend time reading many of the markers and wonder what their lives were like.<br style=”color: #5f452a; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal;” />We took one of the babies which will be traveling to Vietnam with a friend in a couple months.
One of the last logs indicated they were going on a long hike. Wonder if they are hitting up the OC&E Trail? Could be a day where I get over 50 “found it” logs…Here’s another that just popped up (getting closer to the trail)
Dax Facts (GC61K8E) Neither of us are fans of Star Trek nor Trills (Who or what ever they are) nor Klingons, so I had to do lots of research and still had trouble with two of the questions. Luckily, we were at an event just two days before we were to leave to come to Bonanza and who sat at our table but Spock himself. He gave me the answers I needed. Maybe someday he will also come here and find the cache.
A little confusing because Mr. Spock is gone, and I wouldn’t think that Leonard Nemoy knew much about the inner workings of DS9.

09/17/2015 at 8:52 pm #2042951Oh. I better add that Rebirth is a pregnant cache, so the “baby” going to Vietnam isn’t coming from the cemetery.

09/17/2015 at 9:36 pm #2042952As darkness falls, this one pops up. Surprised it was solved and found so quickly. Also answers the Spock mystery 🙂
Warp Speed Ahead! (GC63C7C) I can solve this one and I don’t have to know anything about Star Trek or Klingons and we only have to drive 325 miles (one way) and hike some more so we get to have the FTF! (I took the badge to pass on to my friend Spock who helped me solve the other puzzle.) Nice hide!
