BUMP and through the wormhole again
11/09/2015 at 3:22 pm #2044370How do I keep the coordinates for a picture I took of a cache in the Exif information when I upload it to the web? I tried putting a picture on an unpublished cache of mine, and then linking to that picture for a puzzle cache. Once I look at the picture’s information the data for the coordinates are gone. I can upload the file from my hard drive directly, and things work perfectly.
Since I’m doing this at work, I’m limited to the photo sharing sites I can access, it that makes a difference…

Can you post a link of a picture that you uploaded that had the EXIF data on it but you cannot see? I’m wondering if there is a different viewer that can be used, and a few other ideas I have in mind…
I usually clear the EXIF data on mine before posting them if it’s a puzzle or multi, but haven’t ever tried to see the data on any pictures I’ve uploaded. Now I’m wondering if that info can be viewed.
11/09/2015 at 5:55 pm #2044373This is a link to an unpublished cache, so I’m guessing it won’t work for you. It’s the only copy of the picture I have online at this point.
Unless…

That works 🙂

11/09/2015 at 5:56 pm #2044374Just tried to access the info with a link from the above picture but Jeffrey couldn’t fetch anything at all.

11/09/2015 at 7:52 pm #2044375When we went to visit my dad after our long, long hike in the Louisville Swamp, we found out he’s busting out of the rehab center and coming home next Monday.

11/09/2015 at 9:53 pm #2044377Yikes that picture has no EXIF info at all, not even a date, camera model, etc. I checked some other pictures on geocache pages and found that if I am looking at the smaller preview pictures, the EXIF data is blank, but if I click on the picture to make it larger, I can view that data through any EXIF viewer. But for your picture I wasn’t able to view anything. My other theory was to download the picture and view the info embedded in it on software on my computer, but that didn’t yield any info either.
11/09/2015 at 11:01 pm #2044378I see everything when I upload but nothing when linked. I can always try doing it from home to see if that works.
