01/22/2016 at 5:34 pm #204640301/22/2016 at 6:12 pm #2046405I attended a meeting last night of the Northeast WI Land Trust explaining their proposed plans for the Oconto Preserve which they purchased last year. Someone in the forums, I think amita 17, suggested I place some new caches there. Some of the neighboring landowners educated me last night of the fact that the new preserve is mostly wetlands and a mosquito and woodtick heaven. Hmmm…don’t relish the thought of placing any geocaches there, much less looking for any 🙁

It’s one for members of the North American Voyageur Council. We will also be taking part in a re-enactment at Fort DeChartes.

Yep, that was me. I appreciate you looking out for us. It seems they are encouraging hunting, fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing, and birdwatching. Some might not want to brave the elements you mentioned in those activities either
. But it is still nice to have some more land with the public being encouraged to explore it. 🙂01/23/2016 at 1:40 pm #2046422Will see how that develops as money becomes available…some nicely maintained trails and boardwalks would reduce some of the tick issues…and it would be fun exploring during the early spring and late fall seasons when the mosquito population is diminished. The area has an abundance of “other” wildlife 🙂

01/23/2016 at 7:39 pm #2046434Today was fun:
Geocaching: Major fail. I was going to hit a power trail and left after 3 attempts.
Wildlife: No Snowy, but I saw some eagles and Hawks.
Photography: I took a few I like.
Dinner: Made a lasagna. It tastes pretty good with a bottle of Coppola Diamond Syrah-Shiraz.
Movie: Bull Durham
…..and my Vegas Gambler’s geocoin arrived today.
01/23/2016 at 10:40 pm #2046436Yeah. Got the ok to get house demolished. Monday I will be calling around to set up some ppl to come out to give me estimates. Then house, or what’s left, is coming down. Foundation and all. Sooooo tempted to light up a few sticks of TNT and enjoy a real big KaBOOM!!!!!
Too bad I can’t bring my beagles back! Really really miss them.

01/24/2016 at 2:30 pm #2046444If we get some of the promised snow, we hope to take the fatties up to the wildlife refuge, maybe on Tuesday. While at the Chili Slam yesterday, we picked up a flyer from the guys who sold us the bikes about a fat tire loop there. Course, binoculars will be strapped around my neck, which could slow things down.
On a sad note, it sounds as if the Ivory Gull I kept waffling on the drive to Duluth to see is not long for the world. No one knows exactly what’s going on, but it’s struggling. Wonder if it got nipped by a bird of prey? People who saw it yesterday saw a healthy bird. It’s tough being a wild animal.
01/24/2016 at 2:58 pm #2046445I’ll take the ltp
01/24/2016 at 2:58 pm #2046446:ftp: possibly?
