Time to start dreaming up a new gadget cache for your Wizard of OC series Bartrod. Mrs. Northwoods and I really enjoyed your Dorthy.

Hmmm…don’t have anything in the works but, now that I’m done mounting deer antlers for the season, I could start giving that some thought. Labzone has been constructing a new one and has a couple of more ideas that he’s been toying with.
Oconto...the birthplace of western civilization:)

01/27/2016 at 7:11 pm #2046566Good news, BBG!
My bird chase today had what is becoming all too predictable for me. The bird, which has been coming to the feeder throughout the mornings, had been there once….about 20-30 minutes before I got there. Only a couple people were there early enough. I stood watch for over three hours…no luck. It’s still fun to run into birding friends and meet new ones. One really interesting aspect to this one was the host family. The family is Mennonite. The wife and her sister are both very avid birdwatchers. In fact, we were all offered a copy of the current “Feathers and Friends” magazine published by the Mennonite/Amish birding community! Who knew?
If it comes around consistently again and I have a nice day next week, I may skip my morning coffee and head right up the road after getting dressed. Sigh.

01/28/2016 at 9:09 am #2046571Holy cow BBG, is your dept going to be able to function OK with such a drastic reduction?
01/28/2016 at 12:01 pm #2046575For years I’ve been putting out two feeders with sunflower seeds and two or three suet blocks. For years I’ve had two mourning doves hanging around but seldom if ever a blue jay.
This year I’ve added a feeder filled with a trail mix of millet, cracked corn, peanuts, etc. Now in addition to all the usual suspects I’ve got a half dozen mourning doves and it’s not unusual to see blue jays.
01/28/2016 at 12:41 pm #2046576The family where this bird is being seen feeds black oil sunflower seed and have suet logs. She makes her own suet with lard, peanut butter and cornmeal. Darn bird was seen this morning at 7:50. I need to take another ride and get there by 7:30. This w eek end is not an option.
I saw lots of goldfinches, redpolls, both downy and hairy woodpeckers, blue jay…and only one junco and one house sparrow.
01/28/2016 at 2:01 pm #2046579My sister had a robin at her feeders the other day. Spring?
