Member#beforefacebook I did pretty much the same stuff I do now, with one major difference…..I didn’t need to “share” those things with every one of my 154 friends what I’d done. It’s an interesting social phenomenon, isn’t it?

ParticipantI don’t need the remote for the one used as a monitor but I do for the TV so I can get by but it has the potential to become very irritating.
Have/can you cover the receiving sensor on the front of the Vizio you are using as your monitor….electrical tape or camo tape? It is most likely on the lower right front (not sure what Model you have), and might not be visible.
You can locate it by using something large at first to cover up the sensor while using your remote, for example, a magazine pressed tight to the set…..best to be tight to ensure the RF signal does not sneak around what you are using to block the sensor.
If this does not work, try to enlist Google as your friend. For example, to locate the sensor, Google-ing ‘vizio E260MV remote sensor location’ led me to an image which in turn led me to the owners manual…..
Hope this helps.

MemberThanks hp2, the sensor is on the bottom right on this model. I have tried duct tape to no avail, it seems that RF shielding is one thing that duct tape isn’t good at. If I can find my aluminum tape I’ll try that but I’m not too hopeful.

ParticipantThink you’re on the right track……. Since we only tried it with a magazine, perhaps mo bigga, mo thicka, mo betta? A copy of ‘Idiot’s Guide to Geocaching?’
RF shielding is what you’re after……..any foil hats around? Or something like this: BRAIN COAT RF Shielding for Your Mind ==> https://www.etsy.com/listing/204730014/brain-coat-rf-shielding-for-your-mind?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_b-clothing-other&utm_custom1=0c7dfe14-0cd5-9dc8-d351-00006cc86fa2&gclid=CLiM0e7o3soCFQEEaQodTvgLbw
If all else fails… open the TV up, find the blue wire (or is it red?), and give it a snip 😉
Best of luck!

ParticipantActually, I think this is an IR sensor, so should just need to keep the ‘light’ out……..a tight-fitting umbrella of sorts?

MemberI opened my last TV up to find that wire, thats why I got a new one.
Found the aluminum tape and that did the trick

ParticipantI put on my snowshoes and hiked into the new Oconto Preserve today…there’s currently only one short trail right now that loops into a hardwood area…very pretty with all the fresh snow. I could see maybe putting a couple of caches in this area. No mosquito or tick sightings 🙂
Oconto...the birthplace of western civilization:)

MemberI get to go to the Ice Palace in Minneapolis! One of our sons decided to go up with Aizy and Poohs Pal, and visit the family, too. I offered to go along to help manage kids and cut his costs. So my son and I and my two grand kids are having a little bonding fun.
