        Good Morning!

If I remember correctly, our President ended up with a wet foot on our expedition.

I have a way of finding one foot in water. Last yr at the LCG I made it across the creek (mostly) only to crack thru the ice 6 ft from the bank.

        Following the signals from space.

I read that microsoft is adding Windows 10 as an automatic upgrade.

Yep, I received the notification that they would be “upgrading” me to windows 10.  It would be just like a normal windows upgrade that would run automatically.  It allowed me to pick the date.  If I did not select a date, it would automatically update within the next 7 days.  I think that this method was for everyone running Windows 8 or 8.1.

As far as I can tell, it is still an app based.

I do not like the new Windows mail.  I had to resync all my accounts (pain in the rear).  I had problems with my work e-mail, because of some of the Windows 10 privacy settings.  I was able to get it today. I lost all flagged e-mail.

It appears acrobat was removed from my computer and Microsoft Edge now does all my PDF work.

It removed all my HP support apps, because they “are not compatible”.

It changed all my photo storage in the picture app.  They are now in collections instead of how I saved them.  Fortunately, they are still the same in the desktop.

It pretty much flipped the tiles to the old “start” button location and moved the stuff that was there to the desktop.

All my apps have moved or were removed and Microsoft crap replaced them, for example Chrome was removed from my computer and Microsoft Edge was in its place.

It seems functional, but it is a pain to set up the computer again.

DO NOT BELIEVE THEM WHEN THEY SAY THAT NONE OF OUR FILES WILL MOVE.

I read that microsoft is adding Windows 10 as an automatic upgrade. The article I read shared how to turn that stuff off so you don’t get it, and I did that. A friend had done the Windows 10 install and posted a stern warning to NOT do it. They had a really long drawn out process to try and get his computer back to what it was.

Since Windows 10 is classified as a “recommended” upgrade and not an “important” upgrade, if you have your settings set up to only automatically install “important” updates (and not “recommended” updates), then you should be OK (for now).
To change, turn on, or turn off automatic updating:

          1.  Open Windows Update by going to Control Panel and/or settings and then Update or Windows Update.

          2. Choose how (automatic or not) and what type of updates (recommended and important, or important only) get installed.

I have mine changed to automatically install important updates only, and prompt me for recommended updates.

My sweater is beginning to actually look like a sweater.  One more shoulder seam and then it’ll be time to knit the turtleneck.  This is not a little sweater like the one I brought to the Maker event, but one I can wear!

That was a fun one. I don’t sign in when I do those, cause who needs yet another place for others to “do better?” I do those for fun! Thanks for a fun one!

Well, I don’t think I’ll make it to New Hampshire before the polls close tonight… but those WGA members who have not already cast their votes in this year’s BOD election can still do so before those electronic polls close at 11:59 p.m. on February 14 (Sunday night).
