Getting old sucks! It’s becoming all too apparant that one day of hard hiking is about all my bum knee can manage anymore. We did a ton of hiking today, too, but it was slow going for me. Guess I need a few more days in between beating myself up. We even stooped to something we rarely do anymore…finishing the day doing half of a letterbox A-Z trail along a frontage road by the motel…really exposed, really easy. Guess we all have our falls from grace from time to time!

01/02/2015 at 9:17 pm #2033080Yes. I would. You write logs the way we do. I will add any photos later. I will also insist that we don’t go out of character again and get tons of caches like we’ve been doing here. I am guessing we’ve hiked a good 20 miles over the past two days, and not all of it on level terrain, LOL. Knowing where you were…same thing.
Makes the appeal of mass logging seem really tempting, doesn’t it?

No. Three more finds today, logged one. Still have 13 to log from Christmas Day. I’ll get around to it. COs deserve decent logs, even if they are crappy caches (which these weren’t). Our logs and the photos added to them also let us relive each experience when we check back on our finds every so often.
Writing logs gives me something to do online, since there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of driveling for me these days… π
Maybe things will pick up when the craphas comes.
01/02/2015 at 11:28 pm #2033082Whew, finally done. It was going through all of my many photos that took the most time.
You can check out my story about how I got stuck in the snow at GC4X1F6.

01/02/2015 at 11:32 pm #2033083Wow Birdin, that’s a lot of hiking! I don’t think we hiked all that far, we were too busy goofing off. But we climbed on rocks and slid on ice instead of putting on the miles.
I love reading both of your logs, it’s so fun to read about people’s adventures!

01/02/2015 at 11:42 pm #2033084Had to check coords for one I placed yesterday. It was good, I typed the numbers in wrong!
On the way there I found a crumpled old rusty can: cache container! Placed it farther down the trail.
Went to place another and found one instead! Archived a few months before we moved out here. Here is another one archived close to one of my new ones. Sure wish there was a way to see those.
Contacted other locals and tracked down the CO (Adventure Tours) to see if the one I found could be enabled and I would adopt it. No word yet, but that’s how I figured out there was the other archived one out there.
Almost ran into cachers going for the FTF on my hides, truck with a dog in it was parked next to the archived one I found & I saw two bikers heading down the trail. Too far to call to them and it was going to be dark soon so I let them go. Then the logs for the hides outside of Bonanza started coming inu inbox, so I knew who it was.
Didn’t have a number to call/text to let them know they were passing soon to be published caches, but they ran out of light before they found most of the new ones anyway. The best sig is no sig.

01/02/2015 at 11:48 pm #2033086Quite the adventure at Straight Lake! We had a ton of snow when we went for the FTF. Typed the logs as we went along the trail.
Sure are a lot of familiar names on that sheet now!The best sig is no sig.

01/03/2015 at 8:47 am #2033089Plows just went by. Had maybe an inch of craphas overnight. It’s taking a break for now, then 1-3″ later today/overnight. Good-bye, brown ground.
01/03/2015 at 11:14 am #2033094Craphas in Milwaukee today! Just in time for today’s event.
01/03/2015 at 12:09 pm #2033095Well it’s about time! Actually, I was kind of hoping it would hold off for another two weeks so I could go give AorW another look when I’m down there for the Janboree. π
