Congratulations on the new grandchild, bartrod! They are the best!
Even with all our hiking yesterday, I was sleepless in West Salem. Chronic insomnia. I’ve tried all the things suggested to combat it. My dad is the same way, and so was his mother. I think it’s genetic.
Sorry the prom was so boring. Better than that horrific one in Antigo a week or so ago, though. Someone I know was at that one photographing her grandkids and it’s just…..sad for all in that town.
05/01/2016 at 3:36 pm #2049207Just when I’d begun to think that the garage rodents had gone extinct I trapped another two this morning. Well I guess this will keep the DNR from having to initiate a restocking program.

05/02/2016 at 8:10 am #2049219Finally the NNE Winds off Lake Superior have died down. BUT FROST on the garage roof this morning. Geez! Where is Spring?
I’d Rather Be Lost Geocaching, Than Found At Home!
05/02/2016 at 2:53 pm #2049246We just bought some pansies to feed to our critters. I wish Bambi and Thumper would get off this vegan kick they’ve been on.
05/02/2016 at 3:39 pm #2049249Myself I like dandelions, they take virtually no effort to grow, they have pretty flowers, and my terrorists like to snack on them.
05/02/2016 at 5:14 pm #2049250Spent four hours surveying my block for the breeding bird atlas. I spent quite a bit of time watching a pair of Pileateds checking out a nest hole. I hope they move into that one. I also had a Common Raven. I see them there in the winter, but this could be a cool one to confirm breeding here. There’s also a warbler that was seen there last year that we hope can be confirmed breeding. Not a Kirtlands.
05/02/2016 at 5:16 pm #2049251The robins must be expecting soon. Mom and Dad are not venturing far from their nest in my yard. I can’t tell if they hatched. I am giving them their space. One has not left the nest for the past hour. The other is sitting on the garage roof.
Our resident terrorists have moved three houses to the north. I saw them “playing” when I left for work at 4:30 this morning.
We will be buying flowers for mom this weekend, most likely a special pint too.
05/02/2016 at 7:56 pm #2049257Need to bump the topic back to the top ….
Birdin’ … I saw a sparrow type bird in the bushes out the kitchen window. It had a white “mohawk” with black lines on both sides. Not sure I have ever seen one like this before. What is it?
05/02/2016 at 8:12 pm #2049258I know, I know. The kids call them tribal birds. They were here last week.

05/02/2016 at 10:06 pm #2049264Thanks BBG! Don’t recall three patches of white, just one with a black one on each side. Sure looks like it though.

I won’t be participating in that one.

05/02/2016 at 11:11 pm #2049269Spooked a sandhill crane off her nest on 4/9. She was sitting on an egg. Gestation period for Sandhills is 29 – 32 days, so there should be a baby crane there soon.
