18 School days left. This is the year that I wish would not end. Best class I have ever had, both behaviorally and academically.
That was my last class before retiring…made retirement hard!
Oconto...the birthplace of western civilization:)
05/10/2016 at 11:26 am #2049519Yesterday I noticed a bunch of grasses and weeds scattered about on an aluminum ladder I’ve got hanging on the side of the garage. I suspected a robin was planing a nest on the ladder so I cut a piece of board and made a platform which I mounted a couple feet above the ladder. I then gathered the litter from the ladder and placed it on the platform.
This morning the nest is almost complete…….on the ladder, the platform is clean as a whistle.
05/10/2016 at 11:47 am #2049521They do choose the strangest nesting locations sometimes. One built a nest along the top of our fence, but right by the garage door. It looks as if she decided to relocate back to the pine trees or maybe the neighbor’s downspout. There are plenty of them around!

05/12/2016 at 1:14 pm #2049592When Pooh’s Pal gets home, I hope to capture photographic evidence of that age old question…Does a bear poop in the woods?
I was out in my atlas block this morning and came across a pile of what has to be black bear poop, fairly fresh. Full of slugs! (Not the ammunition kind, but the slimy kind). Pooh’s Pal will think this is the coolest thing ever, and I can try out the new camera lens that came today. Life is good!

05/12/2016 at 6:10 pm #2049599We, those who reside along Lake Winnebago, are dealing with the spring peak hatch of lake flies. The harmless bugs are a nuisance, but are a vital food source for fish and birds and the outbreak doesn’t last long. Do other Wisconsin areas have similar annoying things (I don’t mean mosquitoes) that are unique to their areas? What is your area’s nuisance in nature?
