Congrats on the grandchild, J&L. I’ve been absent from the drivel forum this week. On Sunday I found some old bottle rockets that one of my kids left in the garage. They’ve probably been there for 8 years or so. I took a few of them out in the back yard to see if they still worked. While I was out there, my wife decided to join me ansd let the dogs out, too. Our psycho rescue Sheltie, Georgia, heard one “pop” and took off. This is a dog who dislikes being outdoors. In the 4 1/2 years that we’ve had her, she has never left our yard, unless one of us took her somewhere. We searched for her until about 2:30 am, then resumed the search at first light (Betty did, I slept until 6:00). By the time that she had been gone for 2 days we were pretty much resigned to the idea that she was not coming back. Then On Wednesday morning I got a call from my brother-in-law that there was a dog that looked like Georgia in his yard. By the time I got there she had trotted about a half-mile down the road, but we finally recovered her, smelly, dirty, and tired, but safe.
