06/25/2016 at 7:23 am #2050481Thanks for the update Becky.
06/25/2016 at 10:03 am #2050482I need to start my shopping.
One of my travel bugs has been floating around Germany. Thank goodness for google translator.
06/25/2016 at 1:32 pm #2050483We just got back from spending a week at Star Lake. My wife goes out early every morning for a long walk…this week it was the remote roads near the lake…one morning she had a black bear cross the road ahead of her…this morning she one-upped that by seeing a mountain lion that stopped in the road briefly to stare at her. Glad it wasn’t hungry.

06/25/2016 at 3:57 pm #2050485Had a family reunion of sorts in Tomah. Then I found a couple caches in West Sandland based on suggestions from sandlanders. On the way home I spotted jar42. Also some interesting wildlife from a distance, but nothing like a bear or a mountain lion.

Did you report the mountain lion to the DNR? They like to keep tabs on them.
06/25/2016 at 6:30 pm #2050489those are seriously cool wildlife sightings.
06/25/2016 at 7:19 pm #2050491I did…will see if they follow up on it. The owner of a little general store in Star Lake said she’d seen it once too but no one else has been able to confirm her sighting.

Star Lake like on HWY K (I think) in Vilas county??
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

DNR in my experiences isn’t real good on call backs although they eventually confirm one way or another. I found a animal skull several years back and wanted to confirm whether or not it was a wolf skull. Was afraid I might get in to trouble if I kept it so I had them check it out and it turned out to be a juvenile bear. But it took quite a while with me pestering them to get a response.
06/26/2016 at 3:55 am #2050497FTP for a rumbly, rainy Sunday!
06/26/2016 at 1:26 pm #2050498Yes, Star Lake is on Co. K…been going there for our anniversary for several years…great area 🙂

06/26/2016 at 1:31 pm #2050499Headed to Hammond today after the rain to spoil the grandkids again 🙂 I couldn’t believe we got 5+ inches of rain last night…some of the farm fields turned into lakes…but a few miles to the west, there were only puddles.
