      Wow! FTP for Monday!

I finally succeeded in getting in touch with a CO that had archived a set of 2001 caches “just because” and he is willing to reactivate them and have me adopt them. However, the “activate” log doesn’t do anything. What step are we missing?

Once archieved I believe, unless there is a “miracle” worked by a reviewer, they are not to be “resurrected”. OLD, caches from 2000, 2001 have a better chance to be re-activate, but not recent ones.

You might be able to reinvent them, and call them a “redux”? at the same coordinates, same write-up, etc.

Maybe someone else can respond too if I am inaccurate on what I have heard. Nice idea!

On another topic – 2016 Fall Picnic at Black River State Forest, Sept. 24, 2016

The WGA has contacted several cache supplier/vendors and it seems before they donate to events, they want to see at least 25 “Will Attend Logs”. There are 23 “Will Attend” logs to date .

Please encourage our fellow cachers to attend! As Soon As Possible too, so the WGA Board can make some additional contacts for our raffle prizes.

      Thanks WGA Members!!!!

Got Rain? Want some? Washburn has had over 2″ and it’s continuing raining hard to produce backed-up storm sewers flooding the in-town roadways.

So a few of the 1/1 caches are temporarily 5/5s?

The caches we were discussing are 2001 caches, some of the oldest in the state. It really pains me that they won’t reactivate a perfectly good old cache that is in amazing condition, has someone that will adopt it and (finally) a CO that is willing to turn it over. The CO simply got bored with the game and archived caches that were running for 12 years and never bothered to retrieve them. That wasn’t enough to sway the reviewer. What you said was pretty close to what the reviewer stated:

It is not common practice or policy to un-archive a cache to allow it to be adopted.  This is the global norm.

They will have to remain archived.  You are more than welcome to submit new caches in these same spots.  Assuming they meet current guidelines, they will be listed.

          Sounds reviewer-ish.

          FTP for Tuesday.

Got a PM from a cacher telling me that my cache was not there. I went to check and it is indeed there. Checked cachers page and they have a total of 1 found. From now on, I check the cacher before the cache.

Beyond that right now.  I know Linda’s posted elsewhere, and because Trekkin’s from there, the images are startling.  We also just saw that one of the Iron county board members died in this flooding.

May be changing vacation plans. We were going to the NW part of the state, but maybe Door County would be a better call.
