May be changing vacation plans. We were going to the NW part of the state, but maybe Door County would be a better call.

Meetcha at Penninsula SP next week :) And you got all those cool Door Co. gadget caches…and the giant smiley!

Got back from Door Co. yesterday…didn’t see you :( It sure was more pleasant there than back home. We hit some fierce rain on the way to my daughter’s late this morning.

Vacation is planned for August 22 – 28. Giant Smiley and state parks on the itinerary.

You can earn a couple of neat patches by completing the Ephraim Geo-tour and the Ridges/Door County Coastal Byway Nature Tour …and be sure to give Giant Smiley #1 a favorite point…for obvious reasons 🙂

I’ll do that for sure, but only if you give #73 a favorite point.

I’ve got a Red-headed woodpecker coming to one of my suet blocks. I’ve had everything else, Downy, Hairy, Red-bellied, I even had a Pileated show up a few times some years ago. This is the first Red-headed, he (she) is a beauty close up.

Big Red has had a ticking noise in the engine for about 2 years. I’ve had many Ram owners tell me not to worry about it, that all Rams develop that noise. Last time I had it in for an oil change, the mechanic told me that it is not the usual noise that Rams make, which comes from the manifold studs loosening, but that it was coming from inside the engine. So I made an appointment and took it in at 8:00 this morning. At 10:00 the dealership called to tell me that the noise was coming from inside the engine. They asked if I wanted them to take the engine apart to find the noise or leave it. I asked if the noise could potentially get worse and/or cause more serious problems. The answer was “yes,” so I told them to start taking it apart. They told me that they would call when they knew something. Over 6 hours later and I haven’t heard anything. Not a good sign.

    #73??? That’s a stretch but I’ll think about it. 🙂

Good thing I have this forum to vent. Called the dealership this morning to ask what they had discovered. I was told that they only had one “technician” who could do the work on my truck, and that he was booked up yesterday and never turned a wrench on Big Red. So I said, “But he’ll be working on it today, right?” No, his schedule is full today, too, but he has his whole day tomorrow set aside to work on my truck. This is a Dodge dealership, and they only have one person qualified to work on a Dodge engine? I can’t wait to get the customer service survey on this one!

Not an E.A.A. Event was Not an Everyday Average Apathetic Event.  It was Entertaining, Amicable, and Awesome!  It was a pleasant meeting of locals and visitors from near and far.

Boo…and me so far away.  I didn’t even realize it was EAA week.  How strange is that after living in the valley for 30 years.
