Well, a little good excitement tonight. I was out with my wife admiring the sunset and taking pictures… like the one here:

and she was complaining about the telephone poles and wires. I said that I like to go down to the corner of the garden, next to the telephone pole and take pictures. It was then that I noticed 20 mule deer standing just outside the garden. I talked too loud and the ran/walked up the hill away from us. I checked, and the picture is too blurry to see them, but they are in this picture.
We haven’t seen more than four deer at any one time until now, so maybe they are starting to herd up. Cranes and geese are starting to flock and fly now too. We even have around 15 pronghorns not too far from our mailboxes (about 1 mile down the road) that we haven’t seen until this week.
School starts next Tuesday, so maybe all of these are signs that summer is really over?
On another positive note, the smoke that has been plaguing us the past few days has cleared out.
The best sig is no sig.

After almost a two month break, we were back in the Kickapoo Reserve today to continue the year’s hiking challenge. We have 11 more hiking trail segments and the five river segments left. We’re saving one long hike for fall color. Paddling for midweek sometime soon, we hope.
Oh, and one shorter segment is being saved for a day when we can continue up the road when we’re done to go to Cowboy David’s Cookies and Cakes.

09/05/2016 at 8:44 am #2051453I went for a nice walk this morning. What’s everyone else doing this weekend? Anyone laboring?
09/05/2016 at 2:32 pm #2051457No labor. We did the Kickapoo Reserve hiking on Saturday, hung out at home yesterday, and today we went to Weggy Winery to celebrate Trekkin’s birthday. Free bottle for the birthday boy. Later we’re heading to Pizza Doctors for Exploratory Surgery…and free dinner for the birthday boy. Do you see a theme here??? Rain is moving in as well. It was nice to have a week off of constant rain here.
