I stopped at my sisters place in town this morning and while petting the old tomcat I pulled two fully engorged ticks off him. He had been out last night greeting Trick-or-Treaters.

I have not been checking for ticks lately, maybe I’ll have to change my thinking.

A couple of my buddies who bow hunt and pheasant hunt have complained about the abundance of both deer ticks and wood ticks yet this fall. I had biked/cached the Wiouwash Trail in the Wittenberg area three weeks ago and managed only one deer tick but had velcroed my cuffs and sprayed with Cedarcide. Another of my friends is a taxidermist…he’ll find them becoming active even in winter when he has to thaw out deer carcasses for mounting. Be safe!

Well, we found deer ticks two weekends back hiking around Hurley.  Today, after canoeing the Kickapoo, we found one more.  We don’t like deer ticks around here.  We do, however, LOVE that we could get out canoeing in 70 degree weather in November.  That was the segment of our trail challenge we were afraid we wouldn’t be able to do, what with all the flooding this year.

I’ve noticed that mosquitoes are back in the Milwaukee area over the past 2 days too.

FTP for Hump Day the 2nd of November.
Less than a week and we’ll be looking at test patterns on TV instead of political ads!

The ads for replacement windows will be back …in force.

Whoo hoo! My surgeon removed the staples today and the x-rays looked fantastic. And the best part is I’ve graduated from the walker to a cane. I can finally get out of the house on my own again 🙂

I spent the morning at Heritage Hill–making butter, grinding corn, feeding the chickens…oh, wait.  That was the child labor.  I spent my morning counting heads, distracting and redirecting, serving meals and cleaning up.  Same as every day  🙂

I wonder what happens now to the long suffering Cubs fan, now that they have lost their reason for being. Also what does the team do, become average and win occasionally like everyone else or the smart thing, Start A New Tradition.

Some of us are also Brewers fans.  Does that tell you anything?  😉

Sadly I went to bed at the rain delay 🙁 What a great ending to the World Series though.
