Happy belated birthday to the blue frosting crew.
Day one of my four day weekend……I only worked 6 hours today. I think my New Year’s Resolution involves finding employment that gives me more work/family balance.
12/30/2016 at 5:53 pm #2052921Well, not hugely sick, but what a rotten morning!
Told Trekkin’ I was leaving by a certain time to get to the docs, so he needed to be out of the shower by that time. (Grand daughter’s here for the day). Ten minutes post that time, he’s out. Run out to garage. Pull out of garage and as usual, garage door closer doesn’t work for me. Walk all the way around to close the garage. Go to car. Battery is dead. I guess that’s not such a surprise, considering the car is over seven years old on the original battery, but how inconvenient!
Diagnosis is not pneumonia, cancer, dog allergies or any of the things Trekkin’ thought it had to be. Bronchitis with some sinus infection. I have some antibiotics with not wonderful side effects, but now I also have peace from the “in house doctor” (with no medical training!) I can also highly recommend Mucinex DM (as suggested by the doctor) for this kind of thing.
12/30/2016 at 7:39 pm #2052922Just saved myself a trip to the doc, thanks to Birdin’. My cough turned into a cold, and I have been on Mucinex DM for a couple of days now. No sinus infection, so I don’t need the antibiotics. Can’t taste much since the cold developed, though, but since the Christmas candy is gone now, all is well. My other recommendation for recovery is lying in bed reading… anything.
12/30/2016 at 8:22 pm #2052923Maybe a dozen years ago I got some Mucinex DM. At that time I had to show my drivers license and they recorded who had bought the stuff. When I first took it I thought it was going to kill me. Last year I got some new Mucinex DM, it just ain’t as ‘good’.
12/30/2016 at 8:25 pm #2052924Can’t go through the self-checkout at Walmart with cough medicine without the machine alerting an associate, who has to check to see if you are old enough to buy it. She didn’t ask to see my ID… 🙁

12/31/2016 at 9:04 am #2052927Seriously? I bought mine at shopko and no problems. Maybe because the older lady cashier recognized me as a regular. Or maybe she figured a senior also buying a Littlest Pet Shop toy on sale wasn’t going to be cooking anything scarier than banana bread.
12/31/2016 at 9:08 am #2052928The self-checkout, Birdin’. Those machines don’t know who is swiping items at them, so they beep. Then the associate comes to see what the beep was about. The human checkers don’t bother to ask; they just hit the button to keep on checking out. *sigh*
12/31/2016 at 9:29 am #2052929Question while we’re talking about the self checkout machines – do they take cash in other parts of the state? I ask because they don’t here.
The buck stops here. . .and gets entered into Where's George.
Where's George? Stimulating the economy one EMS'ed dollar at a time.
12/31/2016 at 9:37 am #2052930That depends on the store and the machine and/or the company. I know I have seen cash ones, but we usually use a card.
12/31/2016 at 10:05 am #2052931In Marshfield they have some machines that take cash and some that are card-only.

12/31/2016 at 10:37 am #2052933No. Out of practice, I guess. But I’ll take the honor! 😈
12/31/2016 at 10:38 am #2052934And your post was #13, and this one is the LTP. I’ll wait a bit to see if anyone goes for the next FTP …
12/31/2016 at 10:46 am #2052935Is it still there waiting?
