for Tuesday (and page 743)! Running the table this morning 🙂
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

01/03/2017 at 8:43 am #2052963I was hoping to get an early start on my plumbing project this morning but I guess I’ll have to wait until my ice-melt makes my driveway passable. Given some time the town roads should get better also.
01/03/2017 at 2:59 pm #2052971And still another use for duct tape!
As a former teacher, you should know not to mention possible uses for duct tape. 😉

01/04/2017 at 9:49 am #2052992Odd question here….have any of you done some kind of specialty retreat over a weekend? If so, what kind of cost and what was included? There are a couple that intrigue me, but the sticker shock hit me. One is a yoga/horseback riding one in Montana. The other is yoga/ kayaking on Madeline Island. Both are all inclusive, but cost upward of 1300. Is this unusual?
01/04/2017 at 1:52 pm #2052998Gwyn, Kim and I go on numerous weekend retreats, always promoted as “marriage retreats” or “getaway weekends.” They’ve always been however through churches or Christian organizations. I don’t think they’ve ever cost more than $1,000. We’re going to a getaway weekend during labor day weekend just north of Rhinelander that costs I think about $230 per person. Not quite as adventuresome as a kayaking or horseback riding retreat; I would expect those kinds of retreats to cost right where you stated them to be.
01/04/2017 at 2:46 pm #2053000Interesting, so maybe those retreats I found aren’t so out of line. Yet….I found another horse ranch yoga retreat located about 20 miles from Rocky Mt. Nat’l Park. What’s included and the type of weekend are very similar to the one in Montana, but it was less than 500 bucks. Like, one fourth the cost. Go figure. It’s right after my birthday this fall and I am tempted.

Make sure you don’t have to sleep with the horses. Just sayin.
01/04/2017 at 11:10 pm #2053019I’m going on a retreat in February, but we’ll be sleeping with the fishes. OK, maybe retreat isn’t the right word, more like Boy Scout overnight at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.

01/05/2017 at 8:25 pm #2053034Trying to plan a trip out to Phoenix in March. Mom is selling her RV and wants to bring her AZ car back to WI. So we are planning to fly out, pack her stuff in the car, and drive back to WI. Google maps says it is a 27 hour trip, but if we add 2 hours we can go through Arkansas and pick up another state.

01/05/2017 at 9:17 pm #2053035Of course if I was driving from AZ to WI by myself, my route might include Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Kentucky 😀
