Yesterday I received in the mail the Final notice to buy an  extended the warranty for my car. I did a little checking and found that last January I had received the Final Notice for this extended warranty and also last June. So now I must decide, is this the real Final, Final, Final Notice or is this just the preliminary to the real Final, Final, Final, Final Notice which should reach me in early June.

I just can’t shake the feeling that subscribing to this would be akin to playing the Nigerian lottery.

I just looked out my kitchen window and there on the suet block about 3′ from my nose was a Pileated Woodpecker. A pretty male, not the largest I’ve seen but he’s bigger than the suet block he’s working on.

So how was your Friday the 13th? I woke up with a sore throat that didn’t go away. Betty got a call this morning that the cash registers in the cafeteria weren’t working, so she went in early and worked late trying to get caught up. My brother-in-law was driving the city truck when his co-worker got sandwiched between the trailer and an SUV that crashed into him. Both legs shattered. My brother-in-law has whiplash.

FTP for the 14th.

A balmy 12 degrees Up North. Going to the Seeley Hills Classic XC Ski race to staff the main food station at County 00 along the Birkie Trail. Should be fun. Then I may just try for the Hayward Cheesehead LOOKOUT LOOKOUT cache by skiing north on the Birkie Trail to the highpoint and then to the site of the old Seeley Hills Firetower to dig for this one. Will see how the morning goes.

I do know this will be a trek on my xc skis in those big Birkie hills We skiers “lovingly” named them Bitch 1, Bitch2, Bitch 3, Bitch4, as the big hills when skiing from Telemark in Cable to Double 00. The ones I will tackle are #3 and #4 both ways. It may be interesting to relive the thrill of my 21 Birkies on this section!
