This will strictly be a caching trip for us. We have most of the caches in the area but are hoping to hit the Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin Series in Rhinelander. Is it vacation time yet???

Looks like the series is still in pretty good shape. Just a warning, though, WoodcarverDan is pretty much out of the game. When he gets a DNF or a needs maintenance log, he usually archives the cache.

That’s too bad. I have heard good things about his caches. I will do some thorough research beforehand. Will be heading to the Musky Tower. Hopefully it won’t be too icy or wet to tackle that hill again . . .

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

I’ve discussed with other cachers about WCD, and I know the ones posting here aren’t the only ones disappointed by him archiving his caches.  Looking through his archived caches, of course there are some that are rightfully archived.  However, I’ve seen where other local cachers have gone in and published caches using containers that WCD had left in place.  Quite interesting if you ask me.  Heck, I didn’t even need to use my GPS on some of these.  I had so much fun and frustration with those gadget caches, and came this close to an FTF on Bank Heist.  Is Call Box still active?  For the life of me, I couldn’t put that thing back together after I found it. . .even after two PAF’s.  Right Bartrod?  I would say go after the Great Pumpkin series, not only are the caches great, but the scenery is beautiful.  I would also recommend stopping for a bite to eat at Backwaters, which is right across the highway from the letterbox on that trail.

Callbox is the one I was talking about. It was archived in March due to a damp log, but has found-it logs through September. I’m pretty sure that the other WCD caches that were resurrected had Dan’s permission to take them over.

All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

I would imagine so.  I just wonder what the story is on Call Box though since Bank Heist and Home at the YMCA were allowed to be relisted by new CO’s, as well as a few other non gadgets.  Thankfully densspot and CBIIJ are active in that area to fill in the hole left by WCD.

Are they still having the Super Bowl tomorrow?  I’ve heard rumors that they only have it if the Packers are in it.

Tomorrow is Superb Owl Day.  Birders who don’t care who’s in the other event go out hoping to find some Superb Owls.  I still don’t have a single owl sighting for this year, so hopefully tomorrow that changes!

If at first you don’t succeed…..

Just reserved a cabin…again…in Yellowstone for the very end of summer.  Hopefully this year things like wildfires won’t have us ditching our trip to Devils Tower, Yellowstone and the Tetons.

While on my expedition this morning, I saw where an owl went after a critter in the snow. When I looked up, a great horned owl was leaving the woods ahead of me. It was a good walk in the marsh, with a return visit planned for Monday afternoon. Solid ice all the way!

                  FTP for Super Sunday!

Pretty sure the team with the most points will win.

Expedition photos popped up in my Facebook time hop the other morning.  I had a great time on my expedition a few years ago with a great crew.

I miss looking for containers in the woods.  I have made some time for it in a few weeks.  I hope to get  a bowl of Chili and a Hot Dog too.

For those not out searching for superb owls, and who have more of an opinion than “the team that scores the most points,” who do you think will win the Super Bowl? I’m picking the Falcons, 34 – 27.

                    27 – 24 falcons win.
