A trip to Milwaukee and back. Still time for the Sunday FTP!

It looks like we’re gonna be getting some more craphas pretty soon.

Happy Birthday to CTQ today! And if you want to know how old she is, the answer is blowin’ in the wind! (Hint: She’s older than drivel but younger than copper culture…)

Thank you Pat,  I’ve been MIA making a list of caches for a trip on Route 66 & the Grand Canyon.  Should have started it months ago but the idea only hit him in Feb.  Gotta go before it gets any hotter.

Thank you for the Birthday Wishes from all.

      Good morning.

Just went out a while ago to clean off my driveway, putting my ice cleats on first as I’ve learned to do this year. What do I behold but an inch and a half of craphas and completely dry underneath, no need for cleats this day.

We got probably about the same amount of craphas here.  They would cancel school in the south, but the kids still had to show up bright and early here.

We had about four inches here, but it’s already beginning to melt.

Debby, Thanks for the book recommendation!  I just finished “Death on the Prairie.”  That was the only one they have at the library across the street, but it seems most of the rest are available at the main branch in La Crosse.  I need to stay away and concentrate on my character research for now, though!

I had a set of Coyote tracks in my fresh craphas this morning. Came across the back yard, across the drive, went around the house and back down the drive.

We barely had any accumulation of craphas here, so there’s no need for me to shovel right now.

That was the first one I read too, then I went in order, which was helpful for me to keep the characters straight.  The author contacted me to let me know that #8 comes out in October and has a mining theme, and she just started writing #9 and will continue the series as long as they sell and she is able!  I must have missed it…what character research?

        8 inches still snowing.

I’m working on doing a living history presentation of Florence Merriam Bailey, who is credited with writing the first modern field guide for birding, and advocating for birding with binoculars instead of a shotgun.  Quite a fascinating woman, especially for her time.
I need to get fabric to make a pair of jodphurs as part of my “costume.”  I told Trekkin’ I really need to go horseback birding in the canyons of New Mexico wearing those jodphurs for historical authenticity, but so far, he’s not buying it!
I set myself to do my first “run through” for my Audubon club in May.  May will creep up faster than I realize and I have a long way to go!

        No way . . . FTP 🙂

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
