It is officially spring. Â The yellow Bellied sapsucker is attacking the insulators on the power pole behind my house in the morning. He/she is only here for a week or so in the spring and fall. Â It also means the white crowned sparrows will be here soon. Â Spring.
04/06/2017 at 8:32 pm #2054634Visited Big Eau Pleine County Park today. Spent 3 hours doing the Happy Camper series. I was surprised at the lack of fir trees and abundance of hardwoods. Very quiet, with only 3 cars and 11 deer. Great views!

Are you pleased with the WGA Campout site this year?
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

04/07/2017 at 7:37 am #2054640It should be very peaceful for the campers. Muggles should be at a minimum also. Did the BOD vote on what kind of weather to have this year?
Oh. FTP for Friday!

We are asking for snow and rain so that the opposite may happen . . . đ

FTP for Saturday.
04/08/2017 at 9:07 am #2054647We went to Rapids last night to see the Del McCoury Band….great show. We saw them three years ago in Iowa, on a double bill with Fleck and Washburn. Â We were happy to have seen only one deer on the way home, which is really quite remarkable, considering we had to travel much of the way through Meadow Valley.
Interestingly, when we went to the “will call” table to get our tickets, we saw another envelope labeled “Jeremy Vechinski.” Â Did not spot him there, though. Â It’s a fairly big theater. Â Too bad!

Wow I really like all of those guys. Didn’t know they were coming to WI. I guess I had better set my notification range to something greater than 22 miles…
04/08/2017 at 8:50 pm #2054651We have “liked ” musicians’ pages on the blue site and that gives us heads up on their travels. Â We saw Fleck and Washburn on their own about a year ago in Madison, too. Â Maybe three rows back in a recital hall at Memorial Union.
This is actually related…we were hiking near Perrot today, and met a couple who we probably spent an hour chatting with. Â He noticed Trekkin’s “my grass is blue” tshirt and asked..”you play banjo, too? “

We went caching in Wisconsin Rapids yesterday and we saw about 30-40 deer on the way home, most of them on 173 so we saw your share too!! Thankfully we didn’t hit any.

04/10/2017 at 1:39 pm #2054668Pooh’s Pal actually typed in his own “attend” log for our Donerstag event. Â Up till now (when he could talk), he dictated what he wanted to say. Â Expect shorter logs for a while now.
04/10/2017 at 2:38 pm #2054669Four days on a page again…I’ll help it along.
