Pooh’s Pal is catching up on his cache logging.  Now his cousin has joined the fun…StarLily1.  Did you know that you can’t have spaces in a caching name anymore?  We had all kinds of issues signing her up with her chosen name and she was pretty insistent about the space….as well she should be, as a young reader and writer.  What’s up with that, anyway?

Oh….probably to make it easier on the apps on the smartphones.  Making us dumb one smartphone at a time????

Still no time to fully catch up one what’s been going on or what’s been keeping me away from here other than “life”.

Talked to HuffinPuffin2 yesterday. He’s doing well.

We’re heading back to the Badger State shortly – well, the family will be, and I’ll be out here in Oregon for a year (if I can take the separation). Son’s health took a turn for the worse and no one out here can figure out what to do so we’re taking him back to Marshfield.

Sold our amazing house after two days on the market, but now it’s a rush to get things packed and find a place to live in the 544xx zip code area. Already starting to solve puzzle caches in the area. Look out, I have some wicked puzzles that I’ve used out here that I’ll be importing back with me.

Ok, back to packing.

The only way I know to get around the “no spaces” rule is to use_underscores.

Oh, I’m so sorry to hear all that!  Hope this move makes the difference for your son.

GC doesn’t allow underscores, spaces, special characters, any of that now.  Just letters and numbers with no spaces.  Capital letters are still okay.

It seems that my iPad won’t recharge anymore.  Goodbye, iPad.  End of arguments between grand-kids, at least about that.  Not replacing it.  I bought it for work.  Don’t work anymore.  Don’t need it anymore!

I set up my first DVR this week.  I like it.  I used to record programs or movies on a VCR but haven’t done that in about 5 years.  Most DVRs are tied to some type of monthly subscription.  I really don’t want to pay $100 or more per month for content on my TV.  I got a TiVo unit with a 1TB hard drive that does not need a TiVo subscription.  A few surprises that I wasn’t aware of – you can play back the recording at 30% faster speed (great for sports) but the audio pitch is lowered so it sounds like their normal voice instead of Alvin & the Chipmunks.  Another surprise is that if you watch a TV program through it you can pause and replay live TV, even if you’re not recording it!  Plus the usual skip commercials, a two-week TV guide, etc.  I would have been happy if it just could record shows!
