What an adventure. Started out by dropping at least 8 WGA racers in Paris. Looks like one got picked up and taken to Malaysia and is now in first place. Guess it helps to be the prez. Even the foreign Geocachers know this. We managed to add four new countries to our stats – Cyprus, Israel, Palestine and Jordan. By far, our favorite was definitely Jordan. We found ourselves at Petra (amazing and now off of our bucket list). Returning from a long, long hike, we were on coarse to find a geocache. Got within 525 feet and then realized that it was up – and I do mean UP. We were so wiped from all of the hiking we did. Roger looked at me and pretty much said, “you can’t be serious?” Of course, I was serious. So we managed to negotiate with a couple of Bedouin boys (ages 10 and 15) a good deal on a couple of donkeys and began our trek up. We got about 2/3 of the way up and there were steps – and I do mean steep steps. The boys assured us that all was good and to lean forward on the donkeys. I was laughing so hard – it was all I could do – besides hang on for dear life. I thought for sure I would fall off. We got up a bunch of steps and then came to a place that looked a bit difficult even for a donkey. Roger was on the lead donkey and the boys again assured us, “no problem”. Well….the donkey tried as he might – and the next thing I know, Roger was sliding down this big rock on his ass….I mean donkey….who now was stuck in the crevice of the rock. Took the boys 10 minutes to unstuck the donkey. We walked the rest of the way up and found the cache in a cave and dropped three TB’s. A remarkable view from the top. Had to cross some scary planks along the way. But all in all, probably our most favorite and memorable cache ever! I need to post photos and then I’ll post the GC#.

01/17/2015 at 9:28 am #2033683Better be good chili…
01/17/2015 at 9:40 am #2033684I am hoping dad gets discharged soon, so I can get a bowl of Chili this afternoon. I have come to the conclusion that the Orthopedic Hospital of Wisconsin has much better cafeteria swill than St Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee. I thank my parents for frequenting these locations, so that I have had this opportunity to compare the two.
Mom is fine with the knee rehab. Dad fainted yesterday during cardiac rehab. They thought it better that he have a sleep over last night for observation. His heart and all other important stuff is still fine this morning. They think someone was just a bit depressed and tired from leaving some clothing behind in the land of round-a-bouts Thursday. This, no breakfast, and working out too hard contributed to his episode.
Lacknothing went to Petra…..nice. Did you find the sang greal?
01/17/2015 at 10:27 am #2033685“leaving some clothing behind in the land of round-a-bouts”… 😉
01/17/2015 at 11:00 am #2033686Dad got his “get out of jail” card (Notice: I did not say free. The tax payer’s of our great nation will be footing that bill. Thank you.).
Chili is in my future.
I knew you would catch it. Last night I was sitting at the Hospital wondering if Cheeto, Jerry’s Dad, Rtrsrnhvn, koolmaK, gotta run, peach, and so many others ever stop by for a lurk. I still think the picnic at Roche-a-cri could have been my favorite event. There were a lot of fun people there and a few skinned squirrels.
01/17/2015 at 11:12 am #2033687Back on the old website, when it was much easier to spot lurkers, I caught VG’s moniker there often and once sent him a PM. He wrote back that he still liked to stop in every so often to see what was going on, although he hadn’t posted anything in a long time and was no longer caching. With the holidays and everything going on in his life around the time of the transition to the new website, I doubt that VG ever registered for the new site. Now he can lurk unseen by us all. Hope he can still get a chuckle or two out of the drivel… which is not *quite* useless, since it put so many of us in contact with so many others.
FYI, BBG, I am still in touch with Mrs. RT (and RT14 and RT7.5 … Mr. has found someone else … 😕 ), and the subject of skinned squirrels and grannies with knives comes up on occasion. 😆 With the new stairway up at RAC SP, maybe a return to that venue for the picnic might be in order…
01/17/2015 at 11:26 am #2033688I would love to see the picnic return to RAC. We were unable to go to that one due to a family event.
Glad to hear things are going well with the BBG parents. Dad of BBG will just have to accept a slower recovery, which of course is hard.
01/17/2015 at 7:29 pm #2033691beautiful day for some winter caching….but that didn’t happen.

01/17/2015 at 11:25 pm #2033697I didn’t get any caching in today either. After the Friends of Mead meeting I went home and cooked up some Nueske’s bacon for a BLT, then took down the Christmas tree and did some cleaning around the house. Took Betty out to Chili’s in Plover for dinner. We were about to complain about the amount of time that it was taking to get our food, when the manager brought the food out and told us that she was comping our whole meal because it took so long.
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

Wow Marie, that is quite the story! It is those kinds of shenanigans that make caching priceless. I am jealous, a few years back I read Queen Noor’s autobiography and her descriptions of Jordan were awesome!
