Looks like someone goofed.  I was hoping to get two FTP’s today somehow, but it didn’t quite work out that way for me.  Maybe some other day.

I tell you that I won’t complain about the weather today.  They said the weather was supposed to be terrible with thunder, hail, and even 60+ mph wind in Green Bay.  Nothing could be further from the truth, I’ll take it!

So I found someone’s passport laying on the sidewalk this evening.  Unfortunately, there was no address listed on it, so I ended up turning it in at the police station on my way home.

Found a fully-loaded wallet at a restaurant in Fond Du Lac a few weeks ago. The guy lived in West Bend. I really hope they got in contact with him. It was over Father’s Day Weekend.

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

I have no clue where this guy on the passport is from, so I really had no choice but to turn it in to the police.  Apparently they don’t put your address on passports.  Who knew?  Otherwise I would have returned it if I had an address.

I don’t think we’ve topped 100 here yet, but it’s been up to 99 several times this week. No storms or fires yet. Makes it hard to do anything. Incredibly, there are swarms of mosquitoes out even in this dry heat.

Wife & daughter are in the Ladysmith/Bruce area looking at homes today.

                Horrible day yesterday.

The geomobile got hit by some debris thrown up by a truck about two weeks ago (did I mention that already?). Drove it 90 minutes west to the dealership to have it looked at and it’s undriveable. A stick went through all four radiators. There is a dent in the battery housing and the battery is completely out of fluid. That and other things that may have happened in the past year that come with driving a no clearance vehicle out here in the country. I thought I would be picking it up and driving it home. (This isn’t well written, just unloading things as they come back into my mind.) I sat in the waiting room at the dealership for 9 hours they day I dropped it off, but because they only have one certified Volt mechanic, he didn’t have time to get to mine and it took all day for them to figure that out. At least I got a loaner car in the end, not sure what I would’ve done otherwise. However, coming home yesterday, a rock hit the windshield on the loaner car and chipped it. The dealership says not to worry about it. I’m worried the insurance isn’t going to fully cover what is wrong with the car and then I’m stuck. OH YEAH, I got a call from the dealership telling me how bad the car was as  I was driving there to (I was hoping) pick up my car. As I was mulling the news over, along with everything else, I was coasting down the mountain and got pulled over by a cop. $160 ticket plus my address isn’t up to date so I need to change it at the DMV or pay another $110.

Our son is still not gaining weight and waiting for results from tests is tortuous, especially when they are all in WI and I am still here in OR. We sign paperwork to close this deal on the 21st and it’s hard to find the energy to finish packing things up here. Just me, the cat and 35 chickens.

We’re figuring we’re around $15k short of what we’ll need to pay for moving, buying a house and doctor expenses. That’s if I keep my job out here while they are all in (wherever they wind up) WI. People out here have been great helping me with irrigation, mower and other problems. Still trying to figure out how to get 35 chickens 1500 miles across country once we find a place. Oh, and we must have a breeding pair of owls on our property. They are stalking our youngest/smallest chickens every night, so I go and sit with them like my daughter used to do. Some sit on my lap or shoulders or head. Others just walk up to me but don’t want to be touched. Others actively seek out being petted like our cat does. I have 5 dozen eggs from the three oldest chickens but I don’t have the energy to cook anything. If it weren’t so hot and buggy I would probably sit outside with the chickens now and wait for the scouting report from my wife about the first house they are looking at today. GC4KNJ1

Oh man, when it rains it pours!  Hopefully the househunting is successful, the issues with the vehicle are resolved without too much more pain and misery and most importantly, things turn around soon for your son.

You’re bringing 35 chickens to Wisconsin from Oregon?  That in and of itself is an adventure.  But what the heck do I know?  I’m just a city boy.

chickens could arrive frozen … maybe not all 35 though!

Went to the dentist yesterday to have a crown installed. As the dentist was fitting it on my tooth, he told me to bite down on it. As I did I heard it crack. Had to put a temporary back on and will have to go back in 2 weeks to try again. As I was backing out of my parking space I hit a post, denting my bumper and tailgate.

Maybe if we move to a new page our luck will improve.
