I have a few of my caches back in Oregon being cared for by others, but the majority are in BFE. If/when someone looks for them and comes up empty I’m simply going to archive them.

We’re gradually archiving many of ours as they experience issues.  Just went out and retrieved one yesterday, one the day before.  Honestly…..an awful lot of “takers” around here and we don’t get much in the way of logs anymore…”tftc” or those rambling pasted logs.  It’s just not fun for us these days, so why keep them alive?  There’s an interesting thread in the grounspeak forums about the decline in placements.  Nothing stops us from hiking or paddling around here, we don’t require a box to be found in order to do that. There are always birds.  😉

Another thing I’ve been seeing is cachers who actively don’t log DNF’s when they go out.  The incident that prompted me to archive this time around was a cacher who opted to private message me a whole day after the fact.  I don’t mind if someone sends a private message, but also log the DNF so that other cachers are aware of the situation in case the CO can’t get to it right away.

It looks like another one of mine has bit the dust.  The city of Green Bay decided a few months back to build a dog park in a park a few blocks from home, and it happens I had a cache in that same park.  Turns out the group of bushes where I had my cache was just inside the fence, and the very bush my cache was hidden fell victim to landscaping.  Not that I mind seeing caches in dog parks, but I guess this one wasn’t meant to be for me.

 

In other news, I had to run to the DMV today.  Believe it or not, I got in and out in about 20 minutes, and that’s not even record time for me.
