Has everyone attended an event this weekend yet? I know there are a couple today, and I hosted one yesterday.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t one at my in-laws.

Since aging dog issues make any travel together a challenge right now, we hosted our own event on Saturday.  More people showed up than we’d expected and many of us enjoyed a little hike along the LaCrosse River afterwards.  The souvenirs aren’t such a big deal for us as they once were, but because I’ve been to Australia, I wanted to get this one.  So far, of these Signal things, I’ve been to each of the countries featured.

I’ve only missed Canada so far.  That’s probably one I should have hosted one for, seeing as how I’ve been accused of being from Canada.

I’m wondering if this will be the last to post for today. It’s okay if it’s not, because we all got our souvenirs for the weekend.

A while ago GC.com asked how they could make geocaching better. In reply I suggested that they could stop introducing extraneous crap like virtual souvenirs.

Guess we know how well the frog listens to your suggestions 😉

Only one other person from Green Bay showed up to my event.  Otherwise it was folks from the valley, New London, and places north of 29, ie, Antigo.  I know that bartrod secretly missed seeing my Happy The Hodag TB.  😀

HB2U must not have gotten my message to burn that thing.

He was pretty cool about Happy being there at the event, and even discovered him.  Maybe that’s the precurser to burning.

I guess I’ll take the FTP on the 30th while I’m at it.

Yeah I get that a lot.

I think about the only thing the Frog has listened to is the request to somehow bring back virtuals.  And even that created a peeing and moaning match for some folks, who thought *they* should get one. I’m just happy to have a few more of them around to enjoy, whoever sets them up!

We’ve been at this since mid-2006, so I have many years upon which to base my “only” assessment.  😉

        #2057656

I actually had someone at my event that thought they could simply apply for one of the new virtuals.  Not quite.

FTP for the 31st! Super moon, blue moon, and lunar eclipse day!

I use my phone exclusively for caching. The app hasn’t been very useful ever since they switched away from having free/paid versions, there is just one now.

Nothing is more frustrating to me than the way they have for pointing you to the cache. The original had a nice line on the map that took you directly to the cache “as the crow flies” and the map rotated as you walked. At first, they just had a virtual compass pointing you the direction to walk. Then they brought back the line, but the map is static, meaning you must manually rotate the map as you twist and turn. It doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it is when you’re caching in the winter and your glove needs to keep coming out of gloves just to turn a map on a screen.
