Summer technology workshop today and tomorrow.
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

Sounds like fun. I’ll trade you. You can come and work for me and I’ll do the workshop 😉
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

07/17/2018 at 8:06 am #2060149Sure, the two new caches in Rhinelander publish after I get home from Hodag, and they’re right on the way into the festival grounds. I sure could have used a couple of FTF’s about a hundred miles from home.

07/17/2018 at 8:15 am #2060150Our summer school consists of plays and extra fun classes. No homework. Very time consuming for the wife to run back and forth.
We have that kind of summer school too, earlier in the summer. This isn’t that. Some of the kids have online classes to work on (that were not finished during the school year). Others are taking tests to prove they know the material they failed – we’re a “standards based grading” school. Essentially, I am condensing two weeks of instruction into a couple hours and then testing them. So far, no need for retakes.
My partner has a workshop today (like Jim) so I’m solo. The kids know that. She has been here for many years and the kids are very comfortable with her. I’m still new and a stranger for most kids. Attendance is somewhat optional, and so far they are opting out today – although they have 15 more minutes to get here before the official start time. Strange they aren’t coming in for breakfast though.

Let’s see if they can make it four.

07/18/2018 at 9:48 am #2060158Preparing for last math test of the summer. Hope he passes because if he doesn’t we have to start all over again.

07/18/2018 at 9:49 am #2060159*** not the entire class, just this test. It’s quadratic formula day.

07/18/2018 at 10:02 am #2060160Some new cacher is putting out a bunch of new caches in my area. I’ve yet to find them. Gonna use them for grid filling.
Heading to Escanaba for a walk on Aronson Island. Beautiful area.
I was at Amnicon Falls State Park Monday. DNF’ed the WGA state park there. Then went to Lake Wisotta yesterday and got the WGA State park cache there.
How is everyone today?
07/18/2018 at 10:08 am #2060161Whoever khbaker14 is, he’s really been going nuts on cache placements in Marinette County lately.
And they aren’t just cheap recycled plastic containers either. What I’ve found are almost all brand new bison tubes. I wonder if the Chamber would be interested in getting a GeoTour going based around the hides he has, they have a bunch of good history with them besides highlighting noteworthy local spots.
But he has only 7 cache finds…some of his coordinates are a good 30+ feet off. I see he had a bunch more published today…may need to take a little trip again soon. I need another half dozen for the next souvenir .
I thought the standard was if someone found 100 caches, they are qualified to place caches of their own. Guess that is not the case anymore.
07/18/2018 at 10:28 am #2060162Completed another Ephraim Geotour yesterday…#3 🙂

07/18/2018 at 12:19 pm #2060163The new caches in the Marinette area sure could be a geotour, just looking at the places they are hidden – good site locations! If we can just get the locations nailed down. Only really had problems with two of them, one read 0′ when I was at GZ but getting to that spot wasn’t easy because I had several places that were close to 0′ but were really 30-60′ off due to trees and hills.

I only had about 50 finds before I placed my first hide. I’ve also heard others say that 20 finds was ideal.

07/18/2018 at 4:31 pm #2060168I think I did over 100 finds before my first hide. And…..
