Went out in the Pound, Crivitz area and found a bunch of OUTDOOR JOHN caches, about 15 of them, and also found a bunch of ticks, in the field I pulled off 8 and they were all deer ticks, while in Crivitz eating dinner, pulled 2 more off, wood ticks. then when we got home and did the tick check, ended up pulling 3 more deer ticks off. So almost ended up with the same amount of ticks as smileys today.

Hopefully we get a good frost or snow yet and kill all of them.

I don’t know whether to say congrats on the finds or yuk to the ticks.

If you’re not adverse to wearing a spray with DEET, might be a good time to stock up on it. It’s going to be a long tick season and the price of repellant is most likely going to be high with the demand. I know it’s going to be on my shopping list next week when I’m off island.

Tis the season for ticks. You being from up that way doing a tick check is a natural thing. I worry about some of the city cachers who have never seen a tick and end up sick. This is going to be a long year for them if we dont get a frosty night soon.
you sounded like me a few years back while we were at Bong. I had 13 hanging off me and 1 in my wallet. I looked like a Xmas tree with all those hanging. 😆

Linda found one on her this morning and hadn’t been outside!

Not sure where she got THAT from! 🙄 😳

I am up to 9 in 3 trips this last week. No big ones… just the tiny “period at the end of a sentence” size. Linda’s makes 10, like the true hitch hiker it was.

I’m at 5 already and I haven’t even been into the woods. 3 on a trail at a county park and 2 at a deadend cache. Really?! Going to be a long year when I have to work in an hour to tick check all the boys after each trip.

dont they bury themselves in the sand or dirt later in the summer when it gets hot? i never had a tick yet in my life. been in the woods and all. ill knock on wood now.

I’m not looking forward to tick season, especially since I’m still struggling with the Lyme I got last summer.
Duck is going to camp near Waupaca for a week come June. I’m going to drown almost everything of his in Permethrin. And sending him with 100% deet. Gallons of it……

A few years ago I found two and I was only in my backyard in the city of Waukesha. I agree it will be a long season. Make sure you get protection for your four legged friends.

We’re up to at least 30 of the nasty little deer ones now, but get this…

Yesterday, we’re in St. Paul. We were trying to get this one cache where we had to wear our waders, walk almost .2 in an underground storm tunnel with the crayfish, and while trying to find the cache, I pulled a deer tick out of my hair!

Only tick either of us had all day and we did a bunch of caches in a nature preserve….after that one.

Frost warning for us hopefully it will be good enough to kill off some of these buggers

Read your post too fast and thought you were having sinus problems.
