Just got the June 2009 issue of “Wisconsin Natural Resources” magazine in the mail today, and in an article about homemade gear for the outdoors, the first item featured is the “Staff of Life” used by Timberline Echoes in their geocaching travels and other outdoors expeditions.
We had the good fortune to cache with Cathy and Jim at Hayward Cheezehead’s Weenie Roast last month, and saw this wonder stick up close and personal. Even got to see the sticky tape for ticks in action!
The DNR website doesn’t have the new issue online yet, but this is the main web address for it to see (hopefully) the article when it becomes available there.

And, the magazine just came today, it was sitting next to the ‘puter when I read your post. 😆
How neat!
➡ Nice photo to boot!05/28/2009 at 11:15 am #1908555Cool, glad to hear it made the “cut!” Since we had “insider” information, we’d heard the articel was not going to be published. Glad they changed their mind!
Trekkin’ especially likes the scotch tape tick removal device on the stick!
05/28/2009 at 12:15 pm #1908556Congratulations. I’m not a subscriber but I will be keeping an eye open for the article.
05/28/2009 at 6:00 pm #1908557It wasn’t cut, just postponed because not enough people sent in their ideas. I was hoping that I would be cut out of the photo and just the staff would have been in it.
Mrs. TE05/30/2009 at 4:05 pm #1908558We received a thank you letter and two extra copies of the mag in the mail today. Thought that was nice of them.

06/01/2009 at 1:49 am #1908561I discovered the article and was going to post my congrats but I see I was beaten to the punch!
06/01/2009 at 4:15 pm #1908562Thanks but it will remain a one of a kind gadget. Don’t think Mr. TE would like to actually create another one.
TE06/01/2009 at 8:10 pm #1908563Got my copy the other day, but hadn’t looked at it yet. I’ll definitely ad that to my “To-Do” list today!! Way to go TE
06/04/2009 at 12:15 am #1908564I read the article the other day. I saw the reference to geocaching, but I didn’t put two and two together.
Very cool !

I was gonna say, no I couldn’t but then I realized that that you were holding “your” Garmin. 😉
06/05/2009 at 11:33 am #1908567Yes, Jim thinks I am a trader because I use the little Garmin more… I like how quick it is… something about not having all those bells and whistles.
