11/09/2005 at 4:49 pm #1759976I prefer to cache alone most of the time as my youngins have a hard time keeping up, and I have a hard time slowing down so thus far I have found about half of my caches alone and half with my family. I take the fam on shorter hikes and easier finds, but in general I like the solitude of wandering around (lost) in the woods alone with my thoughts.

11/09/2005 at 5:41 pm #1759977I’ve never cached alone, just because I’m not sure I’m comfortable doing that quite yet. I’ve been tempted to cache on my own several times but just haven’t. My husband cached on his own while on a business trip to California this summer. His experience was mostly positive but he did express that he wished I was with him to see some of the places he saw. (And to remind him NOT to leave the GPS on top of a mountain.)
We mainly cache as a couple or as a complete family of four. I enjoy caching with my entire family because the kids love running around and because our 5-year old is terrific at finding the cache! I also enjoy caching alone with my husband because we tend to really reconnect on our journey and we hit more caches than when the kids tag along. Just a fact of life. LOL We cached with BQ, Russell, and the Ecorangers at the Halloween event, and we enjoyed that very much. I also have plans to cache with BQ, Tami, and AuntiNae this month, which I’m also really looking forward to.11/10/2005 at 4:21 am #1759978I cache alone most of the time as I have the most free time when my wife gets her hair done. Now and then I go with Marine 52, a fellow retiree from Lincon Life in Fort Wayne. Last week I took my sister from Green Bay out when on vacation. She loved it. Only see her once a year. Green Bay is a long ways from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Rockne

It’s just conversation and interaction between cachers. Nice way to get to know your fello cache-a-holics. Some cache alone some cache as a team, yet cache alone, some always go with others. Just interesting to hear why people do what they do.
I cache alone a lot, but as it has been stated previously, a female in the woods alone can be very intimidating. Gotta get me some of that Pepper spray too. I enjoy caching with my buddy Digial_Dan, but he lives almost 100 miles away. My hubby has little to no interest. I have even cached with my “bog dog”, Hunter. He’s kind of a pain cause he needs to be on a leash and that leads to many tangled moments. So for me, it depends on the area I am caching in, and how I feel that day. Otherwise, I too, enjoy the solitude of the woods and a walk alone. It’s Thinkin’ time… or is it Miller time…or is it time to think about being Miller time. LOL

11/12/2005 at 3:29 pm #1759980I always cache with someone. Now don’t get me wrong — there ARE times I’d love to be out there alone. It’s just that I can’t drive. I’m legally blind and the state of WI doesn’t figure I should be allowed to operate a motor vehicle. (Though I probably could drive better than a LOT of the drivers I see out there!)
So I always need someone to get me there. And that person always joins me in the search. Whether it’s my wife (Mrs.OuttaHand) my dad (Tuck-A-Way), or Team Badger (on a couple occasions) I always have a cache partner.
11/13/2005 at 1:48 pm #1759981Pepper spray. What a great idea. I need to get some! I cache alone or with family for all the reasons already posted. I have recently run into some other cachers on hides and it has been fun. As of yet, I have only felt creeped out once caching, and so I got back in the car and went home.
