Today, April 4th, is my one year anniversary of geocaching.
I first stumbled upon Geocaching.com around April 2, 2001.
I had been using GPS for about 7 years, mostly for hunting and fishing. I had always wanted more excuses to use my GPS and now I found them.
I became very excited when I first found the website. At the time, there were approximately 8-10 geocaches in Wisconsin.
On April 4th, I took my two Sons out looking for treasure. Our very first find was “Pike Powder Hike”. The three of us were very excited to find it.
After finding “Pike”, we proceed over to “New Prospect”. After about 15 mins of searching, Doug found the cache. We were hooked!
So, to commemorate my anniversary, I set out on a Geocaching adventure. Hoping to find about 10, I ran out of time and ended up with 6 finds out of 7 searched for.
The trip started with:
-Lime Kiln 2
-Lime Kiln 1
-Cedar Creek Micro Cache
-Lion’s Den
-Hot Seat
-Kohler Kache
-Andrae Outback (couldn’t find it)
On the way home, I drove past Pike Powder hike just before sunset. I would have liked to stop by and pay my regards, but I frowned at the thought of climbing that hill again.
And if I could start all over again… I would have kept track of all the miles I drove starting from day one.
