      There is a travel bug here in WI Rapids that is trying to get to CA, I believe. My mom will be with me next week and we were planning on finding the cache it currently calls home.

      My mom will be going to Texas April 20th or so. My question is…can we find it, have her hold on to it for almost a month and then put it in a cache in Texas? Is there a curtosy time frame in which you are supposed to redistribute a TB?

        Send the travel bug owner an e-mail and ask him or her if it’s OK. Most may not care as long as there is good mileage added to the trip.

          This is exactly what we have done with some TB’s we’ve had awhile. We leave for Florida today, and are taking some bugs from up nort’ here. In each case, the owners were happy to have us sit on their bug for a month or so, because we would be putting around 1500 miles on it all in one shot, or be helping it along on it’s mission.

          As the owner of some bugs which just sit and languish for way too long, either in caches or in the hands of cachers, we have become more aware of extending courtesies to other travel bug owners. This includes attempting to fulfill stated missions as well as timely moving of the bug.

            Thanks, I didn’t even think about asking the TB owner. Can’t tell I’m new at this. LOL

              In the past I’ve travelled w/ bugs logging them in and out of the caches I’ve visited along the way…posting photos when possible. Some have been in my possesion for a while, but I took them to local caches as well. I’ve done the whole emailing the owner thing and as previously stated, the owners haven’t really cared. The bugs were getting mileage and weren’t stuck in a trunk somewhere. There have been a couple that were lost in space for a bit, but I simply sent them somewhere wonderful in the end so the owners were VERY happy. Two went to Australia and back…that was a bug bonus!
