Hello – Apparently my Polaris Magnum travel bug has run out of gas. I am looking for help in rescuing it from a cache called The Legend of Navarino Bob (GC7937). The cache cords. are N44 39.570 W088 32.230.
I have tried e-mailing the cache owner to seek assistance and haven’t heard back. I figured this would be the next step. If anyone can help my travel bug move on it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian07/18/2004 at 3:02 pm #1739951I tried that cache back when it first came out and had a hard time figuring out where to park. Jason was not helpful when I asked if I could get to the cache from the parking area to the south of the handicapped duck blind.
The reason I asked is because at the time it was closed to foot traffic because of a duck study of some sort and it looked like the ONLY way in.
He would not clearify, and I refused to ever go back. This cache has been showing up on my nearest caches page for a long time, so maybe it’s time to swallow my pride and bathe in DEET because it’s over a mile and a half round trip in skeeter country!
Very effective Travel Bug Prison isn’t it when everyone waits until the water freezes before attempting.

07/18/2004 at 5:32 pm #1739952Yes it is unfortunate that this cache has become a travel bug prison. I have to question if there is a marsh standing between the cache and parking area why is the difficulty only a 2 1/2? Also it’s funny how there is no mention of this in the description.
07/19/2004 at 12:52 am #1739953There is a trail system to the cache. Just a very long hike round trip is all. The trail system starts far enough away that it doesn’t seem possible that it would go to the cache but I am pretty much positive that it does.
I am planning to head over that way in the AM if the weather cooperates. I have to get that cache off of my radar screen.

07/19/2004 at 10:28 pm #1739955The Mercenery style rescue went as planned! Plararis Magnum ATV is sitting on my computer getting debriefed. The breakout was much more difficult than expected!

07/20/2004 at 2:39 am #1739957This whole thread just reminds me of just how much more I gain from caching than the hunt itself. Geocachers are great people and the helpfulness of some to assist in the improvement of the sport for others is wonderful!!
Also took a brief minute to read Miata’s log for this cache–hahahahahaha, luckily you had some good sights to enjoy while you got your weeks worth of exercise.
