We just returned from a visit to a TB Hotel and saw a few of the bugs with the tags in question. We, Trudy and I, think they are great. I can’t see where a bug owner would be ofednded by this addition. It is a “value added” action. If you spot one of our bugs, feel free to add a tag or a bag.JMHO.~tb
09/12/2005 at 1:41 am #1759816i agree with sweetlife. sometimes those tags just fall off with handling. so i have put a new tag and a new bag on a tb with a goal.
i make my tags with a wood square with the goal woodburned onto it. no paper and no bags to worry about, and the finder can tell right away what to do with it.09/12/2005 at 1:47 am #1759817Sometimes a bug owner will take my offer of a laminated tag, sometimes they don’t. If they don’t – no skin off my nose and less work for me! When I do put a tag on, I use a template (I think I got it off the Texas Geocacher’s website) that has space for the TB owner’s name, so of course I put it on!
My $.02: if a TB owner really wants their TB to complete their goal, then they should put a tag on it. If they don’t, and many choose not to, then they have no right to complain if the bug doesn’t always go in the right direction. You can’t always check out the goals of the bugs in a cache before you visit – especially while traveling.

09/13/2005 at 10:37 pm #1759819I am totally for travel bugs having their goal somehow identified and placed along with the travel bug.
In my opinion, if you want your bug to keep moving it is better to have this goal included. That way I won’t even pick up your bug if I already know I won’t be of any help in moving it.
If people are willing to help out and add the goal to a bug, I think that is great. But, it is the owner’s bug and it is an easy thing to ask them first before you do so. Just in case they don’t agree with my statement above.
Getting back to the point of this thread…yes MB I will!
If the person that is going to add the goal has already contacted the owner and let them know that they are going to do so, then I see no purpose in adding your stamp. They already know who added it. If it is that important that you let other cachers know that you created it, then let them know in your log
These additions should simple and brief so all it does is give the goal. Other info, even including the owner can be found once you take the bug and log it on the website. A simple typed and laminated card attached to the bug is quick, easy and cheap to do.
09/14/2005 at 11:56 am #1759820I have to agree.. it is frustrating. My TB…. I got the whole stealing thing and no info issue all wrapped up. For those of you who have see it, you know why .All the issues with coins & bugs being taken and kept, miss-directed and poorly put together, just TICKS me off.
Any way to add an electronic tracking device that if it is taken and kep over a certain length of time, we can find it and make it SELF distruct????? Well.. self distruct with a little help LOL

09/15/2005 at 2:17 am #1759822I’m not sure if I really want to play this or not. But, FuFu, what would you say if someone tried to put a tag onto your TB?
