I just found out that you really have to write down the travel bug number. It is really a pain to have to go back out the the cache and get the number. Then to find out that it has all ready been snatched up by another player.
06/13/2005 at 1:54 pm #1749816Why not take the travel bug home with you so you have the tag in hand when you log it? Then drop off the bug on your next caching trip.
06/13/2005 at 2:11 pm #1749817Oh I did take it home. I loged it as found and it was in my inventory for a bit. I just forgot to write down the number before I went out again to place it. See the help page for my problem.
06/13/2005 at 3:56 pm #1749818If the TB is in your inventory, you don’t need the number to drop it into a cache. All the TBs in your inventory are shown in a box at the bottom of the screen when you log a cache. If you dropped one of the TBs in your possession into the cache, you just highlight the bug. When you submit your log, the TB is automatically removed from your inventory and added to the cache page.
Of is there something else you’re trying to do with a TB?

06/13/2005 at 5:02 pm #1749819Wait you have to log a find first? I was trying to place it in a cache of mine. Maybe that is what I was doing wrong.
06/13/2005 at 5:21 pm #1749820you can also post a note at whatever cache in which you want to place the travel bug. the same box with all the travel bugs/coins will come up at the bottom of the page. so, just post a note on your cache in which you want to place the bug, highlight the bug in your inventory at the bottom of the page, and you’re done.

Yes, make a log entry into your own cache, BUT make it a “Write Note” entry rather than a “Found It” entry … just say something like “dropping off a TB in my cache”, then BEFORE you hit [Submit], click on the TB’s name a couple inches west of the [Submit] button.

The TB will still remain dropped into your cache.
06/26/2005 at 3:28 pm #1749823Ok… so I go on vacation, grab a TB & coin, move it on, but don’t get home and a chance to log for a day. Someone has since grabbed and moved the TB and coin on. NOW WHAT??? Would not be a big deal, but the TB I had, purposely went on vacation with us, to get the pics the little girls wanted, of all the fun things their TB did.
I wrote to the people grabbing and moving the TB and asked if they could log it back into where I had it so I can attach the pics etc?? Are people THAT greedy about the NUMBERS, that they don’t have the courtesy to give a person a few days to log???
I wrote right ON the log that we were on vacation and from WI, soon to go home. WHAT THE HECK??? It’s a freakin’ GAME for Pete’s sake… not a ticket to heaven for the most TB’s listed in your profile!!!
OK… so I am having post vacation depression and venting, but..come on already. It’s called courtesy!!
06/27/2005 at 2:43 pm #1749824Sometimes TBs just appear in caches and if someone unexpectedly finds one that wasn’t listed, they might not know why it was in that cache.
Can you attach your pictures to the log where you picked it up?
06/27/2005 at 6:57 pm #1749825I contacted the cachers who picked up the TB and moved it on. They gave me the suggestion of just grabbing it back from them, log it in and out of the caches, attach the pics then let them know when I drop off/log it back into the final drop off cache. They were very helpful and I expeditiously got things logged and pics attached and returned it that same nite. Wrote back and thanked them for all the help. Guess all ya gotta do is ask.
