Guys,
In line with a prior discussion, I have create the first of many bookmark lists of caches along major highways, this one of caches within one mile of I-94 exits and rest areas. Please take a look at these lists (there were too many for one list) and give me any comments, particularly on some of the suggested routings. If you see a cache which should be included but was not, please let me know that also. I specifically excluded the following:
? (being archived)
Yellowstone Trail – Milwaukee (Too much chance of visitors getting lost in a bad area)
Noise From the Eye and another right by it that I can’t remember the name (Within 1 mile of a rest area and no access from the rest area (I assume))
A whole bunch of caches around Lake Menomin (Again within 1 mile of a rest area with no access)My idea is to put together a bunch of these along with a “menu” web page, which could be linked from the WGA page.

04/10/2006 at 6:42 pm #1741293I recently made up a couple of lists kind of like this to follow U.S. 2 through the U.P. I have 2 lists, Irowood to Escanaba and St. Ignace to Escanaba if you are interested. Probably not as big a deal that I created these lists b/c it is not freeway, but I was bored at work one day, and I figured it would entertain me in the future. I did make sure to comment on every cache that we have done, to give travelers an idea of what the challenge may be. Here they are…

First, what a great set of bookmark lists! I really like all the comments you have added on how to get to the caches and how you grouped them by exit. This definitely will make things easier for folks not familiar with the Milwaukee and Madison metro areas.
Second, there will be a dedicated “section” on the new WGA website for bookmark lists. This was something that our beta testers (mostly marc_54140 ) pushed for, so it was added.
So, there is no really no need to put together a menu web page as you mentioned above (though you could if you wanted to). I have added your bookmark lists to the ones already on the new site, and I’ll be sending you a link so you can check it out.
04/11/2006 at 12:34 am #1741296Wow those lists rock (And not just cuz a few of my caches are on the list). I look forward to using them. Is there going to be a place to do a search for this type of thing?
04/11/2006 at 3:13 am #1741297Hi Team DeeJay,
Looks great. I have done most of the caches on your Madison to Minnesota list, and all of your descriptions are accurate.
You might consider adding in the Lake Menomin caches, though. They are absolutely great, and are easily accessed from the Highway B exit. You might want to add the disclaimer that they are all in the same park, and that to walk to all of them would take about an hour.

Keep On Cachin In The Free World.04/11/2006 at 6:02 am #1741298Thanks for all the kind remarks, guys. So far, no major issues so I am going to go ahead and make them public. Again, if anyone wants to improve on a description or add a cache that I somehow missed, send me an email.
Team B Squared,
I was actually planning on doing US 2 eventually (it isn’t exactly the busiest route…), so good work. To increase the utility, you might want to preface each title with a number so that you can put the list in order.Zuma,
I looked at including those 4 caches on the east side of Lake Menomin, but the closest is about 2.5 miles from the exit. The two in Wakanda Park are a little closer, but still too far. These all got filtered in because of that rest area which has the Red Arrow Division cache. I am assuming you can’t access either of these areas from the eastbound rest area, right?04/11/2006 at 11:39 am #1741299Thanks for the good idea…I am new to making bookmark lists, I was just playing around with it a few weeks ago. I looked at your lists, and see some things that I now want to change with mine.
04/12/2006 at 5:10 pm #1741300I made a Bookmark list, with the help of a few caching friends suggestions for my WI to MT via Northern route – hitting MN & ND, the Southern route – hitting WY & SD, I was going to split the routes up but figured I’d leave them. I use Marc_54140’s theory. Load `em all up and hit what you can get!! These are mostly on the road caches, with few or short turn-offs.
WI to MT 6 state Northern & Southern Route Caches
PS still adding more as I look thru. There are about 34 so far!
